"Van Van" in Vegas

Drago and Django certainly deserved to reach the 10-ball finals in Vegas. They both played superbly all week. But Lee "Van Van" Corteza from the Philippines made it known at the tournament this week that there's a new monster in town. His uncanny shotmaking, position, and safety play were downright scary. He just steamrolled through a field of world class players. Only Bustamante playing his best was able to put a stop to Van Van. If he sticks around, you're going to hearing a lot more from this guy.

Great comments demonrho!! :D Lee Van Corteza has been around the professional pool scene for a while. He beat out Francisco Bustamante during the finals in the Manila leg of the San Miguel 9-ball tour. I think it was in 2004. Definitely a player to be reckoned with.

van van pockets balls better than any of the filipinos and he has ice running through his veins. i was fortunate enough to play him in the first round of the us open in 06... i kept up with him for a while but he caught another gear in the second half of the set... he's one of the best players on earth.

Before Orcullo's rise to fame, Van Van was the most feared money player in the Philippines.
