Varney LD shaft??

well when i made this deal i was fairly new to the forum and to his shortcommings. believe me it will never happen again.

It took you 4-5 months to realize that you didn't like the Varney shaft???

Whats wrong with this picture??

Please 'splain!!!!

Thanks,

Russ.....

Im not necesarily complaining as i am publicly asking for my 314 shaft back in exchange for his shaft.

seems fair im not satisfied and he gets to keep the additional money i gave him.

It's always a gamble when you order something - especially a shaft. You have to chalk that up to experience, and when you find something you like, stick with it.

Liking a shaft is kind of like liking food - everybody has different tastes depending on what they are used to. You can give the same shaft to 10 players and get a lot of different opinions based on that they are used to. There are some shafts that are universally disliked - real stinkers, but even well made shafts have inconsistencies in the wood, the tapers, the resonance, the denisty and weight distribution, etc.

For example, my friend works for a cue maker and selected two of the most consistent, dense pieces of maple he could find. He made two shafts for his cue, the shafts were laminated but both appeared to be exactly the same from the same batch of maple. He liked one shaft a lot and couldn't play with the other one at all.

Anyway, if you play a lot of pool, I suggest you just have another Predator fitted to you cue and forget about it.

Don't you know, anything that has to do with Varney takes a minimum of 4-5 months!

Brian

Well, apparently he "Got the Shaft" in an appropriate amount of time from Kevin. That is not what his complaint is about.

It appears to me that he has had the shaft 4 or 5 months and just now realizes that he doesn't like it.

Seems he is just jumping on an opportunity to bash KV.

I hope that he explains so I can understand better.

well ive found that it takes about that long (for me anyways) to really learn how the shaft hits and what it does and i wanted to give it a honest fair trial. I dont believe you can play with a cue or shaft for 30min or a week and make a honest judgement on wheter or not it plays well.

I understood it, I was just having fun with everything takes 4 to 5 months, shipping, learning to play with it, getting an email returned, etc. :)

i probably will go back to a 314 but one of the older ones, i like the fact that for the most part predator will play the same regardless of what cue it is on, where as a standard shaft takes alot more adjustment between cues.

but my standard shaft is what im back to playing with now and i like it alot, but the predator still has some better qualities to it that i would liek to have back.

and i havent bashed KV in any way he just doesnt answer E-mail for the most part so i posted it on my original thread but at no time did i bash him.

I simply posted a opinion, and what i would like.

Im certain it will not be honored but i thought i would try.

Ok, I understand that it takes you 4-5 months to tell if you like a shaft.

Seems like a long time, but it is what it is.

Silly question, but have you sent KV a PM or email regarding this issue, or did you only post it on here??

BTW, a Pred shaft will absolutely NOT play the same regardless what butt it is on. There are many more factors that affect the feel, weighting and balance of a cue and how it plays.
