The wrap groove and wrap was installed locally. The 314-2 shaft is at 12.1mm and the shaft is not PERFECTLY straight, from uneven sanding/cleaning on a lathe getting rid of dents/dings etc... Doesn't affect playability. However, I know how picky some of us can be and want to be up front and note anything worth noting. The pin is radial brass. The ferrule was replaced with juma and there is a kamui black med on the cue. One of the pie-splices in the shaft was seperating and was repaired with cyanoacrylate and 2-ton epoxy when the ferrule was replaced. This cue has been a daily player since the repair almost 3 months ago and hasn't shown any signs of budging.

The lizard wrap was installed so that it extends to almost the very bottom of the cue. I wanted it that way since most people's back hand is placed further down on the cue to begin with I figured it made more sense. The wrap appears to be much lighter than it is in the pictures due to the bright ass sunlight we had here in Illinois today between some of the clouds.

thanks for being an honest & upfront seller!

cue looks to be in good condition but predator shaft with that kind of issue might greatly affect your sale.

either way, it's always great to buy from an honest seller.

I have an additional radial pinned pred 314-cat by josey with a brn joint collar that fits this cue. The collar of the shaft is slightly larger than the varney butt so it can be made flush without much of a problem...
I figured I'd throw that out there for those leary of this shaft, but I don't think there is any reason to be.
This cue is meant to be played with. So if you're trying to buy is to flip it or trade it or collect it, you're probably in the wrong thread. IT PLAYS GREAT! It has some imperfections, but most cues that have been played with do. So if you're looking for something to make some cash with, this is it. If you're looking for a closet queen, look elsewhere :)
 
Sounds like a very honest seller, and still a great cue at the right price. What else could you ask for. Brian G.
 
the pictures show where there was a speration between the splices was forming. I won't call it a crack, because the wood wasn't damaged, just seperated. The hollow portion of the shaft was filled with 2 part 2 ton epoxy and the the wedges were glued and wrapped tight for a good bond while the glue was curing. There was a tennon installed in the shaft using a maple dowel just like most standard cues. A juma ferrule and a kamui black med tip. For those interested in who did the repair work, I did it. I also cut the wrap grove and installed the black lizard wrap I got from gil castillo.
I've been doing repairs for nearly a year now and I have built a 6 point cue of my own. I have full trust in the shaft repair holding as I played with the cue, that includes breaking since I'm not a real powerful breaker, for months after the repair was made.
This is my favorite cue and i'm considering just buying a new partial and using the old joint collar. So if it doesn't sell, I won't be terribly disappointed.
