2 things:

1) I will be ordering a disc or 2 this weekend, probably the 1st 2 to start it off right, although I really wanna jump around, but the end goal is have all of them eventually so... whatever.

2) I would order them right now, but my work uses Websense (a 3rd party internet content filtering program) and it has your site classified as "Gambling". That is not accurate, unless I'm missing something. You can email websense to have the classification changed - I wonder how many people have ran into this? I had to do this for my own site once, and it was pretty straight forward. A quick google search should produce the form you need to fill out on their site.

The discs are cheaper if you buy the whole set, but the two- and three-disc sets are also discounted.

That mildly pisses me off. Pool is so completely linked to gambling that we get dumb shìt like this. Another example... in our local borders they kept putting all the pool books in the gambling section, not with sports or games.

The idea of websense also pisses me off, while we're at it. So I'm gonna post some stuff about working around it even though nobody really asked :)

1. Use a website like http://nopath.com or http://megaproxy.com
If those are blocked you may need to keep digging for more obscure ones.
There's a long list (sec. 4.5.1) of alternatives on this page, which has a ton of info but is a little technical. http://www.zensur.freerk.com/

2. Never tested this but I heard it works - use babelfish or google translate and translate from "chinese - simple" to english.

3. Convert the IP address from decimal to other formats such as dword. Firefox doesn't seem to like this but apparently IE will play ball.

Thank you for the "creative" information. Now nobody has an excuse to not buy my stuff from work anymore. :grin:

I was also very disappointed that Websense would classify my site as a "gambling" site. However, in their defense, they did respond within minutes to my request to fix the error. According to them, the site is now classified as "shopping."

whoa, really? is that why i can't ever find pool books at borders??? i must go check this out.

and any company that blocks content had better be smart enough to block anonymous browsing sites. i work for an internet company, so there's a good chance there's almost no way around it. i tried hitting the ip directly for one site, but that didn't work either (usually it does). also, a lot of the time, you can simply browse the site on the httpS channel, since most content filters assume anything secured is allowed.

That's crafty about the https channel. Didn't know that one. They do block the IP, but apparently not the IP in octal or dword form (which requires a calculator and is a pain to figure out). They do block anonymizer pages but there are a zillion and many still fly under the radar.

Another option I thought I'd mention is the Tor plugin for firefox. But from what I've read they may be onto that one.

The websense update worked! I just ordered discs 4 and 5. :) I need lots of work on my banking, so... yeah. heh I'll be back to get the first 3 in a few weeks. Already excited to get them. :)
