Veritasium on becoming an expert

Here is the original video with Magnus. The comments discuss this a little. That opening has been played tens of thousands of times. Probably he guessed because the game was notable for some other reason. ...
Almost certainly. Like it was in a major championship/tournament and something very remarkable happened seven moves later. Like the surprise move changed the status of that opening forever.

Chess positions have many more "interconnections" than positions at pool. The knight being on that square has special offense and defense aspects. Move it a square, and it becomes irrelevant.

I can't beat your slow game.
I had just won 14ish games in 45 minutes. 9 ball at 10 a rack on a 8 foot barbox. He was a young player on a road trip. He was doing fine coming from one of the Carolinas to Seattle.
I had 120ish in my pocket and had just quit my day job. I was down 90 and sure didn't want to find a job tomorrow. 🤷‍♂️ My motivation was at uh well Real high.
My Slow Game 😉 all comes at the end of the dance. Just before pulling the trigger. It's a deceptive rhythm.

That was Friday night. He came into My Home room(The Seed 2) first thing Saturday morning and wanted to play.....for 5.
I replied "We can play for 10 or 20 but not 5. I can't beat you for 5." He started whine ing to prospective customers as they entered that Saturday morning. "He Has My Money and won't play Me!"
I was on alert and stepped in to add, "I won't play him for 5 but offered 10 or 20. 🤷‍♂️
He had serious skills and could beat me based on Just Skill. Ya also gotta have The Will. That was my take on my chosen Coach. He had the skills and thankfully the skill to Coach as well.
The Fight in the Dog is a favorite Bob Lilly quote. .
A smart Dog knows when to tuck tail.
My favorite quote from. A Grasshopper was, "You should wear a shirt with Tiger on the front and Jack Rabbit on the back." 🤷‍♂️ Ya gotta know when to walk away and when to RUN!
My favorite t-shirt says, "
I am a bomb technician
If you see me running
Try to keep up. "
Tahoe dump clang is the rim shot.
