The market gets worse for cues every single day. If it isn't carbon fiber or Southwest, it's a buyer's market. The collectors are all liquidating now.
The OP is liquidating a collection now for a guy as we speak. I'm sure any received offers haven't been close, if any have been received. They are primo cues, too!
hey wait a minute, I'm the op.... There is no guy whose collection I'm liquidating.
I did recently put up a Barry Szamboti that a friend asked me to help him with but other than that cue, the current listings for a Tasc, Black Boar, Prewitt, & Scruggs are all mine. And in my entire life I may have consigned just 2 or 3 cues, that's about it.
These Meucci's are also mine and I've had them for many years. I wasn't looking to sell these cues btw, sorry if I gave that impression. I'm updating values for insurance is all.
I have had a number of pm offers and Michael indicating he'd like one, as well. I'll let you guys know if I do decide to sell them.
I agree with you, Patrick, that eBay is the great value decider. I also appreciate everyone else's estimates on the range these might fall in.
I know a few years ago these original Gamblers in real nice shape were approaching $1k but Patrick is correct again that anything not named SW has cooled down quite a bit.
From what I've seen I think the Hearts are the most popular followed by Spades leaving the Diamonds & Clubs as the rarer ones but I don't really think that influences value much, if at all.
IMO, the cue market has certainly dropped but it's not dead. As an example, I'm selling some cues but at the same time I'm buying a few even bigger ones.
best,
