VERY thankful for pool and AZ right now!

If it weren't for pool right now I'd probably be going absolutely nuts!

I was unexpectedly layed off from work 2 weeks ago and thankfully between AZ billiards here, my new cue repair venture I'm getting into, pool league, and a few tournaments I have been to and am going to I have been able to retain my sanity so far.

I like to stay fairly busy most of the time and this lay-off time really sucks, especially since I haven't gotten my first unemployment check yet. :(

But I'm thankful at the same time as well. I took my 4 yr. old out of daycare and am getting to spend a lot of quality time with him right now on a daily basis, I also have 2 teenage sons both in H.S. as well. My 4 yr. old goes to pre-school 4 days/wk for 1/2 days and when he's here with me we spend a lot of time out in my garage/pool room/shop and poke around on the pool table. I made him a short cue for himself and he has the best time poking balls into the holes with it! He always wants to go with me when I tell him I'm going somewhere to shoot pool now, I may be starting the creation of a new MONSTER player ........... time will tell. ;)

Anyway ........... thanks to AZ billiards forums for all the help I've recieved lately with cue repair stuff, and thanks to a few guys who I've bought some stuff/traded with lately, you guys know who you are.

I'll be heading over to the Riverside Casino in a few hours for the big tournament there this weekend. Wish me/my team luck and remember folks ......... be thankful for this great game and this great forum.

I hope y'all have a great pool weekend coming up.

Great Story and I Wish You and Your Family All The Best .

Are you building cues as well as just repairing them? If so PM me for a commision of a cue.

Strictly repairs for the forseeable future, and I'm just a rookie right now but love it so far.

Im good friends with Mike Morgan here in NY and let me tellyou every time I go to his house I get the bug. I would love to learn how to repair cues and do work on them.

It seems like a great thing to do.

I wish you the best man. Hope you're having a great time with your four year old.

Hope the cue repair business goes so well you drive up to your old job in your new ferrari and flip them off lol.

Nice post IA8. Best of luck in this miserable economic climate.

BTW, Iowa has casinos? Dang, there like almost everywhere these days. Thankfully I'm not a big casino goer. I know of one on the Cherokee Indian reservation in the western NC mountains. I believe they are primarily slots, and no cards are dealt, but not sure. (not to hijack the thread, but I may need to find a casino soon if the economy doesn't kick back in, and my lottery # doesn't hit!)

Same here, getting laid off in about a month.....we don't have much access to anything at work, but we have the internet :D AZ definitely makes the day much, much better...

My best to you and your family, good luck finding work...
