Very unique pool cue with an 8 Point (Staircase Point) design.

This is not my cue, and these are not my pics, but I just wanted to ask about this cue, and get some thoughts about it, because I just think it looks so interesting, and super cool looking.

I believe it is a custom cue, from an unknown Japanese cue maker, but I do not know. I tried to research the name on the butt plate, but could not find anything. It is a Japanese name though. That is all that I could learn about the name, lol.

Anyways, I learned that the point design is referred to as a "Staircase Point" Design, but no idea who came up with that term, lol, but it makes sense. It appears to have 2 short points, on opposite sides, with two more points going up a little higher, and then two longer points going up a little higher, and then one last point at the very top, on opposite sides. I never seen anything like it before, and probably never will again.

Curious if anyone here knows of any cue makers who have done this type of design, with the points?

Just curious, because I just think the points look so cool.

Thanks for any thoughts.

Don't think its a custom. I've seen these go for really low money. NewArt in Japqn has had them in the past and they weren't expensive at all. They have Fumi j/b cue right now for 62bux. My wag here is this cue came out of the universal/taican shop that makes lucasi, pred, and others. The ringwork looks like lucasi style to me.

If that is true, then I dodged a bullet on this one, lol. It came with a super nice Tooled Instroke case, for around $850. The case probably retailed for around $500.

If it came from the Lucasi factory, then maybe it was high quality.

Sellers can be such rotten liars, about stuff that they are selling. They will come up with all sorts of BS, to get a sale. And, I am just the type of idiot to fall for their BS, lol.

So, you are sure that you seen that cue in the past, with that unique bumper? I never seen Staircase Points like that before. I really love that point design, which I do not recall ever seeing before.

And, I wonder why the name does not show up anywhere online, other then I non related billiard products.

Thanks.

I got this from AI:
Fumiyama cues are indeed made in Japan. They are a product of the high-quality Japanese cue manufacturing era, primarily from the 1970s and 1980s. They are considered a sister brand or a secondary line to the much more famous Adam Cues.

Dont know if true, but might help with search.
BTW i like those points and the whole cue.

Oh, that would make sense. Adam has done unusual name cues like that in the past. I believe they did a line of ADA-CHI cues for example. Have done many other lines of cues with various names on them. Thanks.

Maybe that odd looking Roman Numeral butt end was not original to the cue. I thought that looked pretty cool though.

I haven't seen that exactly, but I've been thinking about a design a bit like that, but repeated with symmetry.

Going way off topic, but my favorite points ever are RC3 Richard Chudy points. I wonder if any other cue makers have ever done points like that before. I am just crazy about the look of those points.

Interesting unsymmetrical linear design.
But rings dont match, i think. Would love to see the whole cue.✌️

I see that 3 sets of the rings appear to match, and the rings with the shafts match the joint collar. Wish I understood your reply better. It is the points that I think look really interesting. I never seen points in that design. It is a really unusual looking cue, overall.

I have had a couple of RC3 cues with the single-sided veneers. I used to live a few miles from Rick in Pleasant Hill, CA and he played in our league in San Ramon. One of the most artistic cue designers in existence.
