viattorre or edwin reyers

Ok the tim is upp fore to day, it´s way past midnight in sweden. Ill be back to morrow an check fore more info on the cues.

I own both .. I think it's very hard to compare.

Edwin's cue tend to be more "artistic" in style and generally unique. It's also more expensive and much harder to get than Viattorre. He is more true "custom" cue makers, in my opinion.

If you have cetain design in mind, it might be easier to get that in Viattorre cue. Not sure if Edwin will "copy" other cuemakers design.

They both hit fine, in my opinion.

Thanks Jazz for the info, i have never playd with reyes or viattorre. What other cues can you pare it with, quallety and playabillity.

Bouth make nice cues right, witch one woul you like the most?

hmmm... quite a hard question:)

Both are great cue makers. I noticed ER loves to use a lot of exotic materials especially with wraps. He is also known for his ER240 laminated shaft, that some people say is a lot better than predator or other laminated shafts. Unfortunately, I don't have an ER so I won't be able to tell you how it plays.

I don't think how much a cue maker charges makes him more or less of a great cue maker. There are several great cue makers out there who charge a lot less but for the same or even better quality. A good example is Viattorre whose cue building sprung out of a hobby & a passion for great cues and not because they want to sell cues (the owner, Jackson, has other businesses totally unrelated to pool. Cue building is just his hobby).

I have a Viattorre, quite a simple one, if the not the simplest compared to other Viattorre custom cues ever produced. What I love about this cue is its playability: the balance is great, the feel is pure, and shot making is quite effortless. There's a pool instructor who tried my cue once and he was quite amazed how the cue performed with much advanced shots (I will have to take his word for it since I haven't reached a pro-status like him). Other people are amazed of my cue's construction because it's a solid purple heart butt that only weighs a little over 19oz! Some people think that it could've been cored but it wasn't. I guess my concept has been really “customized” to become real: a simple cue that only those who are "knowledgeable" can grasp and will long for its real hidden beauty;)

If you’re planning to have custom cues made by either of them, why not try both? They are quite cheaper than the expensive production cues, at least you’ll be getting personalized cues from both masters:)

Never played with either one. But give me the choice of two equal in artistic design and I will choose Edwins as I know it is worth at least twice as much. Just makes good $$ sense.

Do you want to go more for looks or for playability? For looks, Edwin's cues is definitely more artistic looking.. For playability, I prefer the way Viattorre plays..

i have never seen in person or played with an Edwin Reyes cue so i cannot comment on his cues. For Viattorre, for workmanship, inlays and points are sharp, decent alignment, finishing is very good imo. Playability is very decent, consistent and easy to adapt imo.

Difficult to compare between the 2 cos the cues i see here at the forum made by Edwin Reyes are very artistic and have a natural flair for collectabilty, not many are availble and they hold value due to these 2 factors; Viattorre is very affordable for a custom cue, people probably buy more to play than collect, thus he makes more standard designs and are more readily available(though not by much) on the 2nd hand market as compared to E.R cues. Also explains why his cues may not be able to hold its initial 1st hand value but you can buy and sell at around the same 2nd hand market price.

Just my .02 cents worth.

Actually, Viattorre doesn't have a standard design. They haven't even made a single cue as part of their stock since they have a long list of backlog. I believe most of the cues Viattorre have ever produced are designed by the customers themselves:)

^ ehem... try to consider Linds Cues...

i believe Linds is a beneficiary of Edwin's skills and technology, both cue makers share ideas on the ins and outs of the trade. The only difference that i see is that Linds is a lot more flexible in catering the clients need.

Anyway, i would say that you could never go wrong whichever of these three cue makers you end up dealing with. good luck.

I'm pinoy, so I would prefer all 3. :D

Just so happened, that I could meet Jackson (Viattorre) without any problems. I do see Linds from time to time, but those are on tourneys and can't really discuss cue ideas. With Edwin, he sure is illusive and haven't met up yet. Hopefully this mid-March when I come home.

I have tried all 3 and they are all very good. High $$$ collectable cues, this goes to ER, but this doesn't mean that ER doesn't produce mid-$$$ cues. He does with his Doc Holliday specials.

For players, you can get a cue from Viattorre and Linds, but this also doesn't mean that both don't make highend cues. Both do it.

Whichever route you choose, you won't be disappointed.

My .02

I have an ER pair myself. I haven't played with them that much. I think Saturday was the first day I played all day with them. I love em man. I have a $1,200 Sledgehammer and the ER break cue works just as well if not better. The cue ball hit the rack, went about 20 inches into the air and parked itself right in the middle of the table several times. The playing cue is incredable. One of a kind masterpiece with Sea Snake wrap, six perfect points w/5 veneers. I have several cues (18) ranging in price from $6,600 to $350 and I can honestly tell you that the ER plays just as good as any of them. I am a proud owner!!! I cannot comment on the other cuemaker's cues because I have never seen one. It sounds like he makes a very nice cue also. I think you should give them both a try first before you make your decision. JMHO

I posted a photo that made the page to long. Had to scroll to see the whole photo. So I removed it.
