I found a free sports analysis tool for the iPhone and iPad, and I was fooling around with it for the past hour. Its called Vstrator. I have no affiliation with the company. You can use it to draw on your videos, go frame by frame, do talk overs, etc. Its pretty interesting. Check out the videos I just made. I was learning the software as I was going. Note, I'm just showing off the Vstrator tool, not my stroke! :D:D:D

*Note, after I checked the web version of the video, the frames are slightly mismatched to what was on the iPhone:( Something is definelty going on. On the Elbow Drop video for example, the web video is on a different frame when I have it stopped and I say its just a hair below the starting point.

Cool stuff. My desktop video editing software will do that stuff, but then I have to download the video to my computer. I'll check out the Vstrator.

BTW, to improve video quality you need to have the light source (the window) behind the camera, not in front of it.

When the camera is looking into the light source, it closes its apeture (like squinting) and the result is that you come out looking darker than you should.

I suspect that you used the angle because it was the most convenient place to set up the camera (and maybe the only place to set the camera). If that's the case, try closing the drapes on the window (or shoot at night) and turning on lights in the room...again, position the lights behind the camera so they are shining on you and not in the camera's "eyes."

I've been pretty impressed with the iPhone low light video capability.

Looks pretty cool I'll have to take a look.

Btw shorten your bridge distance from the cueball and stop dropping your elbow:)

I got the app, and it's really cool. However, it only allows me to record 15s videos.

I assume I'm not using it right, or is there a paid version that I just didn't see?

15 seconds was the max for me too. I found that wasn't enough time to get from the camera and to the table for my complete stroke routine. What I ended up doing is recording the shot using the iOS camera, and then transferring that footage to the app. However, even when you do this, you can only select a 15 second section of your original video.

Also, once you have the video, and you draw the lines and voiceovers, etc, the max length of that video is 2 min.

I used the same 15 second video for all of my vstrator videos. Each annotated video focusing on a different section of the stroke.

It's available on Android too. Thanks for sharing, it's a cool app. I coach track & field and it'll be perfect to break down practice sessions for the athletes.

The above video is from the other free app, Ubersense. Forgive the rotation, I thought for sure I'd be able to use the phone in landscape mode. There must be a setting I'm missing somewhere.

After spending about an hour with each app, I think I like Ubesense more, especially if I can figure out how to use it in landscape mode. Also with Ubersense, I could put it directly on youtube. With the Vstrator, I could not. And finally, it seems at least in this one video, the Ubersense app did not lose any frames, as the Vstrator app did.
