I could not escape the feeling that this entire cue creation process cheapened the value of any Falcon in my eyes.

Wouldn't the same apply to any production cues then?

'Yes' and 'no', the soul part is definitely removed for all of them. Some production cues are more complex, threaded, points hand sharpened, etc. Falcon factory had limited capabilities.
