Video - Mosconi Making Money

Thanks for that . . . Willie didn't have to much play documented on video. What a shame, but I did get to see him play once in an exhibition as a kid. One class act and IMO may be the best pool player ever . . .

I can see trick shots have come a long way since the 1980's. I could have done most of those. Johnnyt

Anybody ever see that guy smile?

Don't know if he ever smiled, but then again, I only knew him for twenty five years. LOL

Willie did have a very dry sense of humor but he was all business when he was at the table.

A good expo doesn't rely on skill alone. It doesn't matter how good you are, you can't keep people's attention on skill alone. After 10-15 minutes, 80% of the crowd will be thinking, "Damn, he's good..." while they head to the bar for a drink.

Willie seemed to have what it takes to hold a crowds attention.... character. Although he didn't smile or laugh one time in that 9 minute clip (that I remember...) he still had the crowd laughing at his actions and jokes. Sometimes it doesn't even have to be a verbal joke, like his "I Cheat." shot. He had the crowd laughing before he ever said a word.

Another easy way to hold a person's attention is with a story. People's minds are wired to want to know what happens. We hate knowing only half of a story, so a good story will keep people's attention just as well as anything else. And I'm sure no one had as many stories to tell as Willie...

Willie did a series of ESPN shows called "Legendary Stars of Pocket Billiards" from 1981-1983, maybe even later.

There's a ton of Willie at his finest, and he does smile a few times, mostly when being interviewed after a win.

Other legends in this series were,
"Cowboy" Jimmy Moore
Luther "Wimpy" Lassiter
Irving "The Deacon" Crane
"The Meatman" Joe Balsis
Minnesota Fats
Jimmy Caras
U.J. Puckett
Babe Cranfield

Sometimes see the DVD's for sale on ebay, and no, I'm not the one selling them, but I do own them and watch them a lot. :)

i hate to say it but that was super weak, he was a great player but that video isnt doing him any favors.
