video of the wife shooting

Cool vid, is that guy at the next table a GIANT? :D

I have some video of my wife playing Mosconi a rack of 9ball, and She wins. We met at the grand opening of a pool room that same day! :p She still goes to the pool room with me every chance She gets. I'll dig that video out and find out how to post it.

Inappropriate response to a clean post mentioning the man's wife.

Russ

I agree with you 100% (this time). She shoots OK, but I particularly liked her tattoos.

Nice! Is that room in Toronto? Looks very crowded..
No this room is in barrie just north of toronto, nice room an owner is pretty active at trying to get people in his room, he has like 4 rooms at this point and time. If ur looking for a place to shoot in toronto try shooters at victoria park an lawrence on a monday nite, last monday I "herd" 31 out of 34 players in 9 ball tourny were 9's. Thats where Alex P used to play.

LOL, he had to be about 6' 8", I thought the same thing lol

she is basically a potter an is just now starting to understand how the game is really played with her break, break outs, safeties, shape an english. She spares on my AA league team, she knows she will only get a shot or two and gets her butt kicked though but enjoys it an tries her best and takes the losses like a man! Really good at sharking though LOL, pretty funny to watch LOL

Thanks for the tips on the wifes shooting stance if ur serious about helping her, I will post another video and u can disect it because she wont listen to me lol, we always end up in an arguement when I try an help her lol.

look out the window somebdy's watching

The elbow is high(just like it should be) Thats the most important part of the stroke to teach. She does show some pocket speed. Video's are fun but the single guys would have liked a shot of the other Canadian Women, And I have seen some very very beautiful cross the border shopping in North Dakota. I just got the 9th degree for not playing pool with my girlfriend. I'm always so serious when it comes to pool playing. Mark Tad reminded me how much we need to concentrate/focus to play good. I took the camera to the pool hall this summer to take vids. I had the tripod etc. Someguy comes in with his russian bride or stripper and wanted a video. I we were laughing as she was poseing in a short short mini skirt, and I tiped over the camera, tripod etc. I used gorilla glue and the sony trv-81 lives on. just funny thanks for sharing I was willing to sing o canada after the last two girls I met. two positions for video front and side if your tring to improve. mark

This is great. My analysis:

She gets down on the ball good, a nice solid stance. She goes through the ball good too, a nice straight stroke. Her bridge hand could use some firming up, especially her rail bridges. She is a decent amateur player already, with the potential to be much better.

Oh, and one other very important thing. She has good concentration! That's a big plus. She has spent some time playing pool already. That's obvious. She is no beginner by any means.

Other things I noticed. A very pleasant smile and an over all healthy appearance. Take care of this girl! You have a winner there. But you know that already. It's so nice that the the two of you can enjoy things like this together. It only enhances your relationship.

One other small thing. When she takes her time to study the table she is fine. She sometimes rushed a little getting down on the shot. She could slow her pace a tad, that's all. The long shot she missed, she came up on the ball. When she stays down her stroke is very sound and solid.

Thanks for sharing this. You are justifiably proud of her.

You're both lucky! Buy her a copy of a decent instructional book that she can leisurely flip through at home. She may like the ideas and insight that it gives her minus any direct coaching. If she wants help after that, I'd wait till she asks for it.

She got some pretty good fundamentals already. Once she starts drawing her rock she'll be stoked.

I have watched the movie and have come to these conclusions: You are a lucky guy, and she is wearing too much clothing.

Please film another movie using more oil and bikinis.

I'd agree with Jay about her focus and stance, very nice basics. Maybe work on how to move the ball around better from different positions seeing by the 3rd shot (I think) she took that almost scratched.

This guy is an awesome poster! I have mad respect for Mr. Helfert. If we're giving advice, the bridge hand is the first thing that I noticed as well. This is probably one of the most important things that I always teach people who are just starting out, and is usually what they need the most help with, that and the stroke. But her stroke is VERY good, very smooth, not jerky at all! On her bridge hand, tell her to rest the back of her palm on the table as well, not just the tips of the fingers. Other than that, she looks great!

I have to agree with this guy. That avatar is one of my favorites here on az. And we don't have to feel guilty for lusting after it 'cause it's not the wife. ;)

So your wife picked out the cloth color? :)
Ouch!

Yes. :D I kinda like it though (the color is "wine"). At one point I had suggested "traditional green" but that was not flying. When we do a cloth change in a couple of years we'll see what happens.

I must say, it was my wife who talked me into getting the pool table in the first place. I played a lot in college and she knew I would like it, and it would be something we could do together. I had suggested it was too expensive, and we should wait until the kids grow up. She convinced me now (it was April '07) was the right time -- she was right! And my kids are definitely gonna benefit from having a pool table at such an early age. It was easy to set the record straight there -- it's not a toy, and must be respected. They went to my "pool school" where I explained all the fundamental rules about respecting a table and the equipment, and they got it pretty quickly. So they really play, which is cool.

Champ,
Nice video, particularly in what looks like a very crowded room.
Others have pointed out a couple of suggestions for her that I would agree with. Her stroke on MOST shots looked pretty good. I noticed 2 or 3 where she let her whole arm get into the shot. Watch where her cue ends up. If the tip is pointing up in the air at the end of the shot, it usually indicates letting the upper arm move, or a tightning of the grip hand. Either way, it's usually a sign something broke down in the fundamentals. A little more stable bridge, a solid consistant pre-shot routine, and get her to use that pendilum stroke on every shot. When she did, she looks deadly! She might want to shorten her bridge, and choke up about 6 inches on the cue.
All in all, I would say she is a better than average. Just a little fine tuning and look out...you'll be asking for the 7!

Your wife appears to be quite serious. Congratulations. Your concern about her seeing the avatar should weigh heavily in the ongoing "girlie" avatar debate on this forum. It is unlikely that we would find many pinups in family rooms.

It baffles me that you'd use that cheesy avatar while having such a classy & beautiful wife -- why not replace the avatar with a pic of your wife?!
