Video Taping Yourself

I posted about two weeks ago about my break and subsequently cursed myself. The cueball is running all over the place with seemingly no rhyme or reason. The worst part is the amount of times I am scratching. So I decided to tape 10 or my breaks.

My goal is to hit the cueball with about a half of tip of bottom and a tip of left and hit the lead ball dead center.

Here is what I found:

1. My eyes are focused on the cue ball.
2. When the cue ball rolls forward, I am lifting my body at the waist very slightly moving my cue tip up. This is causing scratches in the corners.
3. When I draw too much, I am pushing my body downward causing way my draw and scratching in the side.
4. Needless to say, I am not hitting the head ball as full as I like.

Here is what I did to try to fix:

1. I shoot my break like any other shot but just harder.
2. No body movement as I feel that this creates unnecessary cue movement.
3. My break is not as hard, but I think this has to do with not being used to this type of break. I have pretty good decent arm movement and should get used to it soon.

Anybody have any other thoughts?

Seeing myself on tape really showed me quick what I was doing wrong. Even the slightest movements.

I don't use side spin on the break at all. To me all it does is add problems hitting the 1-ball on the nose and parking the QB in the middle of the table. I use a half tip of low and let where I hit the 1-ball and speed control the QB. Johnnyt

Very good advice!
