Hey Mj,

Who took off the $2500 added Amateur Event last week in ATL? You used your phone for a small update, and you were gonna post results when you got home on Monday.

How about some particulars and results on the tournament........:)

1st Place = Jeff Hooks (Atl)
2nd Place = Eddie Little


I have been knee deep in sheeeit and will get the full results out as soon as I get a shovel.

That's a good question. The hotel behind Cues close a few day befor the last event for remodeling. Cues is supposed to be working on a hotel for this week and as soon as I get the info (will call them later today) I will post it on the tourney Ad.

doh i thought mr cues was next weekend O.o Wanted to attend the second mr cues.. guess itll be side pockets next weekend.

I would imagine he is, as far as Mike's tour goes, until he places well enough in enough amateur events to be shuffled into the open-only crowd.

I understand the comment though - a few weeks ago I went up to Athens and hung around during Tommy Kennedy's tournament. He had a vote on Sunday, prior to the amateur event starting, to see if the rest of the field were ok with two guys being allowed to play - guys who were kinda on-the-fence as far as whether they should be playing in amateur events or not. IIRC this fellow was one of those two. (FYI the crowd overwhelmingly allowed them in, and they both placed in the top four, I think.)

I'm mostly planning on playing in the event at Mr. Cue's this weekend, so if any AZBers are going that I haven't met yet, get in touch!

Jeff Hooks found his way in first place at the Viking Cues 9-Ball tour stop at Side Pockets Billiard Club in Marietta, GA.

Jeff Hooks found his way in first place at the Viking Cues 9-Ball tour stop at Side Pockets Billiard Club in Marietta, GA.

The Viking Cue Amateur 9-Ball Tour hosted its second of five $2,500-added national championship series August 16-17. Hosted by Side Pockets Billiard Club in Marietta, GA, this event attracted participants from 13 states. Out of the total of 81 players going for the gold, Jeff Hooks alone came away triumphant.

The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour and Side Pockets Billiard Club joined together for the first time to provide an exciting tournament. Side Pockets Billiards Club provides an excellent atmosphere for all players and spectators alike. The event was played on 12 newly covered 9-foot tables. Side Pockets features 24 beautiful tables and a full bar and menu in a newly renovated environment.

Saturday night featured an eight-player, winner-takes-all mini event. The format was a race to 7, single elimination, and was won by Harold McAbee from Tuscaloosa, AL. Sunday featured a mini tournament of 11 players competing for another winner-takes-all prize fund. The format for that tournament was race to 5, single elimination, and was won by Matt Bulfin from Auburn, AL.

The main event, which kicked off on Saturday, drew in 64 participants and was packed with action from the start to the finish, as spectators watched Hooks and Eddie Little battle it out to see who would walk away with the first-prize winnings. Hooks defeated Little in the first set 9-7?his first ever big win on an organized tour.

Series event #2 of 5 in The Viking Cue Amateur 9-Ball Tours $2500 Added National Championship Series took place at Side Pockets Billiard Club in Marietta, GA on August 16th &17th, 2008. Participants from 13 states NC, SC, TN, AL, GA, IL, OH, MI, VA, WV, FL, MS, MO were lined up at the door early Saturday morning all anxious to get in and take their shot at the $7,110 prize funds offered up to the winners of this weekends events. There were 81 total participants in the events this weekend.

The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour and Side Pockets Billiard Club joined together for the first time to provide an exciting tournament for The Viking Cue Amateur members. Side Pockets Billiards Club provides an excellent atmosphere for all players and spectators alike. The event was played on 12 newly covered 9' tables. Side Pockets features 24 beautiful tables, a full bar and menu in a completely newly renovated and exciting environment that everyone is sure to enjoy.
