Hey guys, liked the idea of this shaft here was thinking about replacing my currently warped Viking stock shaft with this.. Has anyone that has experience or knowledge on how other performance ld shafts know how the deflection on this one compares to the others? And how does this thing feel, is it stiff? And how does it sound? Thanks for the help guys, play pool : ) ~Miles

With what? I have a Viking cue from 1969 and another from 2007. I use a Z2 on the newer. Unless you like skinny I would not recommend a Z2. I'm used to it. I also have a McDermott D-10 from 1984. Shafts are warped but don't like their L.D.'s. Only because I'd have to learn all over. I may replace one shaft sometime in the future?

I am absolutely no expert on these shafts. I did try one out briefly, a couple of months ago. While the black lines on the shaft may be a good idea in theory, in practice I found it to be visually distracting, and I felt the ridges a bit. I am also worried that the carbon fiber and wood might wear at different rates over time. The deflection I felt was at a medium level. Hard to quantify, really. I didn't like the hit at all. I don't like any viking shaft, frankly, except a couple of the old ones. I've only tried them because I know a dealer and I am curious about this stuff.

Every shaft I ever tried that had carbon fiber in it has hit fairly "hard", even if the shaft is flexible. I don't know why that is, or if it is even the correct impression, but that is what I am feeling. The most natural hitting of them is the McDermott G-core in my opinion.

If you want this shaft I would recommend that you try it first, to find out if the lines on the shaft are distracting to you. In all honesty I feel you should take a look at a Vicore shaft instead, if you are dead set on a Viking brand shaft. I am sure it is perfectly possible to play great with this shaft and that some people will love it. It just wasn't for me.

Very good point about the two different materials, I would suspect that as the wood absorbs moisture and the CF does not it may be even worse in a humid climate.

Couldn't have said it better and my exact same thoughts.... I do however REALLY like the way the Viking Vikore shafts play and feel. Built similar to the McDermott G-Core, but I like the Vikore better, just a really solid hitting shaft...
