Vintage Brunswick Cue Information?

A friend of mine/owner a local Hall recently acquired this old Brunswick,
and is looking for any information relative value, demand, etc., and what a fair minimum bid on auction format would be.
The cue appears straight, butt separate, the shaft does have a slight roll and a slight roll when connected. The finish appears to be original and both the shaft and butt (while aged), are in nice condition. You can see the mop in butt that has some breakaway at corners in lower section. The ferrule is slighted detached from end of shaft. Very long and thin pin, with very sweet seating. It appears similar to 3rd edition blue book pg 197 & 198, made in 1916 but this cue appears to have rosewood full spliced and not ebony as book shows. Your thoughts & comments would be appreciated. Thank you. Brett

That is a very nice and desirable cue for a Brunswick collector. I don't know much about the older Brunswicks other than what is noted in the Blue Book. You would probably want to talk to either Chris Tate (Tate here on AZ) or Deno Andrews (also noted in the blue book, but I don't know his AZ name, might even be Deno Andrews). Both are very knowledgeable about older cues like yours. If your friend is a collector he should consider this one a keeper. If not, there are people out there that would be interested in buying it and your best bet would likely be on AZ or ebay. The condition would be the only detractor from a pricing standpoint, but even in relatively poor shape there are those who would want it, me included. I think it would be a great addition to my gameroom. If and when you are interested in selling, send me a note, I'll gladly stand in line. I would trade some other cue (newer and a shooter) if interested.

It appears to be a 360 trimmed in brass. Everyone I have seen has had ivory for a joint and ferrule. Whats unique is it appears to be purpleheart and a lighter wood, oak, teak, ?, and it has the ebony shaft end. Nice cue, either way. We have an ivory one on the brunswick page of the site.

Ebony is rare , rosewood is most common

Love the cue!!!

Jay.. thanks so much the information and the link highly appreciated.
Wow, that one is a stunner. This rosewood cue would look drop dead gorgeous with a re-finish, but theres something to be said for original too?
Thanks again Jay.. I'll present my friend with the various info received so as to move forward to the next step. Have a great day. Kind Rgds, Brett

Joe, Your input greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Yes, the wood in forearm is quite unique. I am not sure what type of wood. I'll inspect it a bit closer when I see my friend later in the week. I'll provide him with the info received this forum. Your Ivory one is fantastic. I will see where he wants to go with this and move to the next stage. Thanks again, Joe.
