1987 South West, with letter of authenticity. 19.0 oz, two shafts, 13mm and 12.75mm (nominal). Given the vintage, obviously this is a Franklin cue. Butt and shafts are perfectly straight.

Very rare South West featuring birdseye maple handle and front, with 6 staggered tulipwood points and Hoppe style tulipwood buttplate. The cue is simple, yet strikingly beautiful. Both the tulipwood and maple have gorgeous definition.

I have owned this cue since 1990. It is the sweetest hitting cue I've ever touched. Its playability is unparalleled. Every pro player I've let hit it immediately asked me if I'd sell it. I always smiled and said, no. Now, I simply need the money, and I must part with it.

Price: $3200

you can email them to me at pharaoh68@hotmail.com but I may not be able to get them up until 4 o'clock-ish (EST) OR you can just resize them yourself. Its easier than you might think.

  • Save them to "My Documents" and then open them through Paintbrush.

  • Once there, click on 'Image' and then 'Stretch/Skew'. Boxes will apear that show the number 100 in each.
  • Cut the numbers in half (make sure they are both the same) and click ok.

They should now be small enough to attach to your thread. If not, repeat the steps and make the numbers smaller still.

pics of said southwest... nice cue! note: this was as large as it was sent to me, any attempt to increase size vastly distorted the image.

Sorry it took me so long Ted. Was just about to post thepic when I saw Ross had already done it.

Anyway, free bump for a beautiful cue.

Thanks for offering, anyway, Pharoh. I appreciate the compliments on the cue too. God, I love it ... damn it! :(

Nice cue. It has a lot going for it. (no wrap handle, hoppe butt, meaty shafts, old micarta ferrules...) I surprised none of the SW "hunters" or "im looking for a SW." snatching this bad boy up. I noticed in your sig you have another SW hoppe style. If this cue is the nuts, why arent you selling the other one vs. keeping this one?

They are both great cues. I'm selling this one siimply because it's worth more.

I'll be bringing the SW to the Viking Nationals in Duluth on Sunday. If anyone wishes to see it in person, look me up. I have a crewcut and will be carrying a Flowers case.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but does anyone know just how rare the maple handle Southwests are; i.e. how many have been made?
Thanks
Paul

I've never seen another one myself. Some cue experts have told me Jerry made a few, but I've never actually seen one.

Funny story: When I brought this cue to Laurie to get it authenticated, she took one look and said, "I remember that cue. I wanted that one!" (Laurie is partial to tulipwood.)

Have a look if you're in Duluth tomorrow.

hey azer's this is a sweet hitting cue as Ted let me shoot some with both of his Southwest at Viking tourney tonight. This is a great hitting cue with old yellow ferrules and pretty tulipwood. Leonard PS thanks Ted I loved shooting with both of them.
