Hi:
Did you make the case from scratch, if so what materials did you use? I am a pool player, served an apprenticeship as a violin maker and now violin player..I'd like to make a case and could use the advice.
Great job.

The case is a cheap plastic one. I would love to have made a real case into a cue case, but this is what I could afford.
For the padding, I used the blue camping mats from Wal Mart. Easy to work with, cheap, soft but rigid. Perfect. For the Lining I used fake fur from a craft store. To glue it all together, I used a hot glue gun. For the lids to the pockets, I used plastic about as rigid as you would get from a DVD case. It wasn't all that hard. In a viola case, you can make it a 2 butt, 3 shaft case. Build it up in layers, and where the butts go, cut out that shape in the top layer. For the pockets, cut out the shape you want in multiple layers. I did 4 layers for the pockets.
If you are gonna make one, just take your time. Think everything through, and it works out.
