Visit to Cue Components

This past week-end I visited Joe Barringer at Cue Components.Com.
I called Joe a week or so before I planned to visit to make sure It would
be convenient for him.

There were three of us in all that visited Joe. One is a cuemaker
from the Orlando area and the other is Graphic Arts/Engineer who
instructed me in the use of my CNC machine.

Joe was his usual very pleasant self. We met his staff and he
showed us all around his well equipped shop and answered all of
our questions. His shop is well organized and his new 4 head CNC
Shaft Machine works great. It is heavy, rigid to the extreme and noisy.
It does a very good job on the shafts. He had at least 5000 shaft blanks
in stock at the time in various stages of completion. There were a
couple of hundred cored forearms in stock and lots of other exotic wood
in square form. He had 5 or 6 large burls on pallets and each one
weighed from 100 to 200 pounds each. I do not want the job of
running them through the band saw for any amount of money.

I purchased some Moori tips while I was at Joe's.

I just want to thank Joe for his hospitality and to let everyone know that
anytime they are in the West Palm Beach Area they are welcome to
visit Arnot Cue Custom Cue.

That's a very generous offer Arnot. I wouldn't mind taking you up on that the next time Kim and I come out to visit Joe. We were there last year in May but the smoke from the fires had the road closed. Since we do not know the area very well we decided to wait till next year to visit Joe.

Of course I'd call you first to check your schedule and get to know you a bit and to see if we could stop by for a short visit.

Cue Components Visit

I just got back from Joe’s shop he is 20 minutes down the road from me. I just pick up a new machine from him and must say he always treats me very well. Joe will answer any questions I have or help me with any problem I may run into. He is even nice enough to buy pizza at the pool room on Friday nights.

Arnot, I would like to get down to visit your shop also. We talked on the phone one time about several things.

Regards,
Jimmy

You are certainly welcome here anytime for the Grande Tour of my shop, office and private pool room. We always take the time to accomodate
our guests whether they have called first or not. It is best to call first if you plan to come on the week-ends because otherwise I might not be home.

Good Cuemaking,

Hey Arnie...

It was nice to see after a few years. You look good and happy. Thanks for stopping by and it was nice meeting Dan and Dave. Glad you enjoyed the visit and we enjoyed having you over. Next time we'll do dinner.

Hey Tom...

Where have you been!? Drop me a line and send some shop pics. Are you in production yet? Nice to see you chime in.

Hey Jim...

It's always fun to have you stop by. I'm happy to help you out and don't ever be a stranger here. You need to come by and do some work for a change. The floor always needs sweeping. :D And don't sell yourself short as you buy the drinks on Friday nights. We always have a good time. See ya Friday!

And a great week to all.

Hey Joe & Jim. Do you guys ever get out and roll a few balls? Wondering where the place to shoot is down there & when you guys are around? Waldo's? If your like me probably not that much LOL. Brown's is north of you guys is'nt It? I went through that way recently, and will probably be making a few more trips before I'm done, and thought of You while passing the exit on 95, before taking I-4 to My destination, but did'nt plan ahead by contacting you, so I just went on by, and did'nt stop.

BTW, Joe, you still riding bikes & do you get up My way in st. aug. anymore? I know you told me you did once before, but that's been some time ago since we last talked.

Hey Greg...

I don't remember the conversation but that's quite typical of me these days. My wife calls it convenient memory along with my convenient hearing. :D Anyway, give us a call when you're in the area and remind me of this post. I usually take it easy on Thursdays thru Sunday so those are my best days. Monday thru Wednesday it's a zoo here. And yeah, I get up to St. Augustine once-in-a-while. It's a nice day trip by bike. Do you ride? I occasionally hang at Waldo's and it's smoke free so it's nice. Brown's is OK but it's like a cigar lounge with no ventilation.

Call next time you're in the area and bring lunch! :-)

Very understandable, It's been quite some time ago, way before I joined az here. I think you had just started selling on ebay, and I was still selling sports stuff on there at that time, before the bottom droppped out of It.

Yeah, I've been wanting to come down and see you, but have just now started spreading My wings again and venturing out alittle bit. Guess I'm just a homeboy at heart & don't get out much:D

Have quite a few friends that do, In fact My Dad's best, and childhood friend does, and is always going down to daytona, even his second and last hip replacement does'nt stop him:p , but I don't really ride anymore, Motocross was more My gig back in the day, altough I rode a few street bikes throughout My single years. I keep teasing My old lady though, that when I get enough saved Up I'm going to buy a harley, because i've never had one :p :D , but that does'nt go over so well with her.
My Dad use to be a regional MC racer here back in the 80's, but his biggest highlight was running against the likes of Bob Hanna at Gator back. he came in first just under the 15 or so factory racers:rolleyes::p . Even way back then You needed sponsership to be on top, and he was just a weekend warrior.

I''ll definatly give you a advanced hollar next time I know I'm coming down, and ofcoarse lunch is on me. What's to your liking?:) Chances are My trips down there will be on fridays and saturdays. If your coming up this way before you hear from Me, Pm, and I'll give you My cell, so you can reach me at Anytime, and maybe We can meet up on the tables over at bobby & John's place or something, It's non smoking with 9's in the house, so you'll love that, altough you may have stopped in there by now. If I dropped in would'nt be for long though, because I'll even be heading down or back from sanford at the time, and round trip it's 3 hours from here, but I'm going to try and talk My Dad into riding down to waldo's one night, so you guys let Me know which night is the best to run into you. Think he mentioned Riding down there with a buddy one night and playing, but I was'nt with them at the time.

Hi Joe,

Yeah, this was to be the year we went full time. Remember I told you that my day job was relocating, well when I told them I was not going to go with them they made me an offer I could not refuse.

So I'm still working full time and we are still putting out cues in twos and threes until then. I kind of like it that way though.

See you in the spring.

Tom
