Finals should be over, any results to post?

U12,
I believe Waldo won the Master's singles.

My team finished in the money in the "A" team competition (13th-16th) - but I don't think that is the type of "results" you were looking for.

AZ member sunnyday won the Womens Open.

Congrats to sunny for her win....good job....must be that AZ karma.:D

Willie, I didn't even know you were there. My team, Mixed Nuts, was the defending Masters Champs. We won the title again this year by defeating, I think they're called, 5 Rotten eggs. Tina Larsen played with them this year and they played a great tournament. My team won the winners bracket and they had to beat us twice. They thumped us the first set by about 80 balls I think. The second set they slowed down a little and we picked up staem and managed to beat them to win the title.
Waldo won the Masters singles by beating a big guy named Tony I think. I think he's from Ft.Wayne. Not sure exactly as he put me in a bit of a coma when he knocked me out in 4th place. I lost my first match and came thru the losers side winning around 8 matches in a row.
Preferably on Top, from Ft. Wayne won the Ladies Open Team. They're a great bunch and I'm proud of them.
Best of luck to all of you who are going to Vegas this year for any of the events. Sam

Thanks, Justin! Good luck, Karma, Pool God... they were all with me. I almost forfeited my first match. Got stuck behind an accident, pulled into the full parking lot 5:55, ran down that hall way with my phone buzzing off the hook, got to my table 6:02 for my 6:00 match...I could have lost by forfieture if I didn't step up by 6:06:eek:

Started cold, very cold! When I warmed up it was 2-0 (my opponent) going to 3!!!

Things turned around for me and I managed to stay on the right side of the bracket to the end.

Them short race is no joke!

Sunny

My team, Southside, won the "A" team division and the other Southside team in the "B" division won also. We are all from the same pool room in Bloomington, IN. We played very well and never went to the losers bracket. We almost went once but I made a great shot to win the match. The other Southside won from the losers bracket.

Waldo's final match was a great one. he was playing Tony G from Fort Wayne. Tony was on fire beat some pretty tough opponents Sam Kirby, Steve Oaks, some kid that I never seen before for winner of the losers. On that match he ran 4 tables in a row without the break, his opponent kept breaking dry. When it came to playing Waldo. Tony won the toss, broke and ran, Waldo broke dry, Tony ran it, Waldo again broke dry Tony ran out again. Being down 3 - 0 Waldo comes back and wins 4 - 3 want a match.
No time for errror on that match. A really good one to watch.

Williebetmore,

I saw you at the tournament and meant to say something and introduce myself but didn't get around to it. Maybe I will see you in Vegas and say hi.

WBW,
Please do.

I'm almost afraid to ask how you recognized me (I hope it wasn't those FBI posters down at the post office).

JM,
Being my first ever bar table event; I am hesitant to render an opinion. But it certainly seemed to me (over about 6 hours of steady gambling with some of the better players at the venue) that bar-table 8-ball is really just a breaking contest among the better players. JMO. It seemed I won almost all of my games if I made a ball on the break or if my opponent failed to make a ball on his break.

I liked the team event a LOT better than the singles.

Easy...from the pics that were posted from your day with Grady.

This was not my first bar table event but it was my worst from a table perspective. The rails on every table were about a 1/4" higher than the center of the cue ball, so the cue would go under the rail slightly when it would hit the rail. All tables played as though every rail was dead but when I actually looked then it was apparent that the rail was high. The cue ball would slow down about 20% when it hit the rail as opposed to not slowing down much at all...like most other bar tables. I hope that someone told the Valley about this and they get that problem fixed for next year.

Sam, you are correct. Tony Goodman was the player from Ft. Wayne taking second behind Waldo...Congrats on your team championship

Thank you!

I have played against Tony a couple of times in team events, but don't recall ever playing a singles match. He was on fire all day when I watched him play. In my match I won the flip, broke and ran out. He broke and ran. I break dry next 2 and he ran both. I finally got a shot the last game and shot it into the rail. I must have be sleeping I guess. He played great and deserves a lot of respect for all the racks he ran.
Congratulations to my friend Dan {waldo} Walton for a great tourney too.

Thanks for all the posts.

The last one I played in was 2001 and I got 3rd in open and our team got 3rd in the team category.

No action stories have been posted, so I guess that must have been really slow.

I didn't stay and watch much of it. Sat. night Strong Arm John and Mark Doxtater were setting up some kind of onepocket match. Jeff Beckley was play 200 a game 8-ball with a kid named Danny from Detroit. Beckley was down and came back to win. There was quite a bit of action on Fri. night after I left. Usually a lot of 10 and 20 a game challenge matches in the practice rooms.
