VNEA Pattern racking 8-ball

Some things violate the spirit of the game and its intentions, and some do not is part of the difference between things. But if you in general really can't tell right from wrong and instead have to rely solely on rules for your guidance then you had sh!t parents that did a sh!t job.
I think every single person who has met me in life would say the total opposite. I started this thread because someone in League was talking about grouping the balls so I was like if it's legal I'll try it out since we have 4 3/8" pockets and the power break isn't working lately. Thought why not give it a go and now has turned into you saying I'm a shit guy with shit parents and I have no good intentions to the sport. Take a hike buddy

At the local bar we have 2 Valley 6.5 tables. The balls are old and of different size.
I find that to get a tight rack I have to interchange several balls in order that the whole front of the rack has all balls touching.

Does the interchanging of these balls constitute "patterning" ?

Isn't there a sewer drain in the street out front?

Sportsmanship and integrity are 2 main reasons. I can tell you have no clue what those are also. Enjoy your day folks this guy prolly can't run 5 balls in a row anyway.. he gonna argue.and defend then deflect all he can. Good luck with your racking

so following the rules isn't sportsmanship or integrity???

But then someone would have to donate NEW balls
Go on the innerwebz and get one of those Chinese sets of phenolic, regulation balls that looks good and is under $40 delivered to your house. Offer to sell them to the bar for $50 and take $40. Problem solved. They will be better than what you have now.

If it came to that, I have a set of Super PROs I could just give the bar.........

If it's Legal to do then it's not cheating. Quit being an Elitist and saying anything that you don't like is cheating. It's the same as guys Hati g on jump cues but as li g as they are legal then it's legal...enough

Cheating would be trying to get an advantage on opponent to something he isn't able to do nd you try to do secretly If someone racks all the suits together its obvious and the opponent can see and try it himself. If he chooses not to that's there issue. I've never cheated in any competitive sport in my life and play within the rules thays why I asked VNEA themselves for clarification and said you can rack any way you want as long as the wing balls are opposite and 8 is in its spot
northshormb is either Jaime, Justin, or Dr. Cue. can't figure out which.

If pattern racking was a good thing, then most other organizations and leagues would not have put in rules against it. While the rules don't address it specifically in that league does not mean it's in line with how the game should be played, with a random order of balls, as descried in other rule sets, including the world standard rules. Same thing for jump cues, if they were such a fine great addition to be used, why are tournaments banning their use?

I think this is more of a failure on VENAs part to keep up with the rules and modern pool than anything else. 30 years ago no-one thought to limit racking rules because no one really thought about it, they just dumped the balls in, tried to make them tight and that's in. Now there are all sorts of ideas about pattern racking, leaving or finding gaps, etc.. that when I watch the old videos with the 9 ball going in the corner it makes me cringe that those racks were done in major events, in and many cases the finals of major events, allowing someone 2-3-4 games on one shot wins due to poor racks.

I'm sure the VENA people just don't think about it, dealing with a majority of players that just don't know about things.

I think it's because VNEA doesn't allow Magic racks or templates to hold balls tight. So if the break works pattern racking its pure luck using a triangle. I tried it on our tables and doesn't work with the triangle but I started this post trying to see if it was "LEGAL" not to start if something was ethical or not. If VNEA thought it was an advantage I'm pretty sure they would ban it and since I talked to the VNEA bosses they said it's allowed. Every sanction has its own rules and nobody follows exact same for the most part. Just like any sport that adopts different rules

I suspect that there were people who really did think about it but they didn't talk about it and their opponents didn't notice. It's likely the same story with intentional gaps but there was less opportunity since it was always rack for your opponent.
