VNEA valley pockets

I just visited the VNEA final is vegas

I play on 9 foot tables with fairly hard pockets. I was interested looking at the pockets on the smaller valley table they all seem to have a narrower opening than the throat.
Would I be right in saying that helps the balls drop much easier (short shelf as well, makes them even easier)
I’ve never seen a table where the throat is wider than the opening before?

I think Pyramid pockets and some other European super tights maybe Kaisa as well as Sinuca open up after the initial aperture. They might not. I think the idea is if you hit the pocket the ball should drop.

Every Valley I've seen is like this (although I rarely play on one). The pocket at the points is smaller than the pocket at the throat. The jaws are angled the other way from parallel compared to a commercial table like a Gold Crown or a Diamond.

It makes the pocket play way way way way easier.

Also of note they are about 4.5" at the points. So "tight" by any standard, but easy as anything due to the backwards facing angle and tiny shelf.

I don't perform much research/testing on table pockets other than occasionally setting two balls between the points.

Regardless, in my experiences with Valley tables, they are the easiest tables I have ever played on as far as pocketing balls is concerned.
