I just got this exciting news in an email...

"Congratulations to Allison Fisher who was recently nominated for the Women's Sports Foundation 2008 Sportswoman of the Year for her exemplary performance in billiards. The selection process was not an easy task this year with the consideration of all the Olympic athletes. So this is a particularly high honor for Allison Fisher to be nominated among the individuals selected. In general, this is an incredible opportunity to further broaden billiards as a viable professional sport. Should she win, it will bring immediate attention to the general public and media outside of the billiard industry."

It is very easy to vote, you just go here, and go to the bottom of the page. You do not have to create a log in to the site to vote...

I thank all of you and what a great idea Cuebacca!

I really think this a great thing for our sport, as well! Any visibility for us in mainstream sports is big. Especially with this being an Olympic year, it truly says a lot about her achievements that she was nominated!

facets58 - ironic or what !!!

Hi Mike - it's Fran in San Diego.

Given the recent developments in the WPBA I thought you would see the irony in Allison's nomination - I know I did.

I was just recently authorized as a "newbie" and have not had time to introduce myself or get my Avatar posted (still not that computer literate)
Too busy right now working up a 20 team schedule for 1 of the 2 "money" leagues that I run. I'm playing 5 nights a week - still love the challenge and the competition.

I did send an email broadcast to the 160 players in my leagues and hopefully they will all take a minute to vote.

Just voted three separate times for Allison Fisher -- each vote having a different email and zip code, to ensure "vote validity." ;-)

Vote for Allison!!!!!

The wife and I just voted, she just don't know it! That's two vote's for one of the best female player's of all time. You rule Allison(Ewa also)!

Will vote more when I get parent's Email and friend's.

Kay (my wife) and I voted for her.

I learned from a woman some time ago to say "Kay, my wife" and not "my wife, Kay." If you think about it it makes sense. The second phrase connotes ownership, and God knows I don't own her. This is a good place to pass on that little nugget.

That is a cool avatar Kevin, November 10th is right around the corner.
