Hey all. If i could make a wall case for cue with doors, holds 10 to 18 cues ,two shafts with light, key, that you could hang on the wall, not to fancy 8in deep 3 feet tall or close, deeper with more cues?
What do you think? 250.00 or so in maple and other stains or cheep hard wood, ph, coco hemlock I dont know.

I am going to make on this winter, not fancy or anything, just a nice case. To hold my crap in.
Let me know what you think.

Thanks Rick.

There has been some discussion about throphy style display cases for cues in the past. One of the concerns for some in higher humidity areas was that the people who did build these cases were having mold problems. Mold started to develop on the cues. This probably won't be an issue in low humidity areas, but its something to consider. The display case does allow enough light for the mold to grow and these cases are not air tight so their humidity levels as well as ambient temperature will change as those levels change for that particular room. Probably wouldn't be the case with a built-in dehumidifier/climate control system.

display cases

The display case makes sense, a couple of thoughts...

1) you may want to make them to match traditional pool table finishes so they match up like manufacturer cue racks

2) if you have a small incandescent light in the case the heat will keep the interior dry and the air circulating. This is an old boaters trick to keep mildew from forming in boats that are left in the water, a 100w bulb in the salon, 50w in the stateroom and just a night light in the head prevented mildew so managing moisture in a case should be easy.

Good luck

joelpope makes two very good suggestions.
To answer your original question, yes, I would be interested, and the price point seems right.
I think many here would like a display case to show off their many custom cues but who wants to spend $800 or more on a display case when you could buy another cue for that?

At $250 with quality construction it will be a no brainer for many.
I think it's a great idea to try and have woods available to match pool
table finishes.
Keep in mind the wood tones on GoldCrowns and Diamonds since that is
what alot of people here own.
Cocabola is always nice regardless, but I am not sure about maple, I think
you will have better luck with the darker woods/stains.

If it turns out like I am thinking you can put me down for one..

Thanks for all the input. I live in Phx now with no humidity. The first of the year I moving to the oregon coast and thay have alot humidity, the light in the case is a good idea. The first ones are just going to be simple, once I get the build down I will try inlays and routing paterns, or trim molding.
As soon as I get one made I will post some pics.

Thanks Rick.

Wall Cue Case

Sounds great, price sure sounds good. If you start doing well with them and decide to add "touches" some of the old cue cases had some great ideas for holding the cues in place , rubber bumpers, spring loaded clips etc . The only problem I can think of would be shipping costs.
Good luck !
