It’s all about finding what works best for you.
I had a Gilbert jump/break and it was a great cue but I missed a lot of jumps with it. It was great for long jumps, but if things were tight I had trouble getting it up and over.
Switched to a Mezz Kai and a Jacoby jumper. Jump so much better with a dedicated jumper! My break seemed better too.
Next I got an OB break cue ( one of their limited ones they’ve offered recently). I found a better feel and a harder hit for my effort with their Speed Break shaft. It wasn’t a huge difference, but it was there. I sold the Mezz and have been super happy with my OB breaker. It has a unique butt taper, kind of a barrel taper, that feels nice when breaking. It’s a very Break specific cue which I like.
I am interested in trying a jump cue with an extension, might have to give an OB Lift Pro a try one of these days.
My advice is definitely go with a dedicated break cue and dedicated jump cue. It’s worth it! You have to find what works best for you after that.
