Hello,

I'm looking for a decent break cue. Just something heavy, ideally with a hard tip, though I will have retipped, as needed, so that I am using one cue for all my breaks in practice and play.

NYC area preferred.

Are you looking for a wood or carbon fiber shaft? I recently replaced my wooden break cue with a JFlowers BRKR break cue with a Carbon fiber shaft and Phenolic tip. Made a huge difference in my breaks. So, depending on your budget, it might be worth your while to take a look. It's $334USD but performs just as well as a Breach or BK Rush. https://jflowerscues.com/product-category/jflowers-cues/break-cue/break-cues/ . Mine is a 19.5OZ which is ideal. My previous break cue was 21.5 and that was just too heavy.

Honestly, the only references I have that I get to practice with are a $900 carbon fiber something that I love, but would never spend that much on, and a viking sneaky pete, which was outfitted with a 20oz bolt and a hard tip.

I just need something with heft that has a hard tip that I can get used to. I'd even just use a house cue, if it could be the same one every time.

Thank you though for the link you sent. It'll give me a place to start.

You're welcome and good luck.

Good rec, thanks. This is similar to the one a teammate of mine has, but this one doubles as a jump cue.
Extremely well made. A steal at the price. Shaft diameter grew a little fast for me so i turned it down a little. Breaks like a cannon and jumps good too.

I have a new Action Break Cue with a phenolic tip and ferrule that weighs in at 25 oz. It really smashes the balls. $180 for it. I can send pics if you are interested.

Define "inexpensive"? I really like my J Flowers break cue. Half the cost of Cuetec/Predators

I found a Dufferin Dot for sale on E bay, went to a local repair/maker and asked if he could
make me a shaft. He had some planks from the dance floor from the Local Community
Center. Oak was the floor for 40 odd years. Tipped it with a Talisman Break tip.
$35.00 cue + $85.00 shaft = $120.00
