wanted Gold Crown tables

Glenn,
Thanks for clarifying the fact that Bob DeTurk was paid. The issue Bob and I had was in meeting work time lines only. Should not have been finishing up work on the day of opening. There were other things that needed to be taken care of. His tables play great. I have even recommended him on here after our disagreement.
As far the disagreements between you and Rob, that simply is not my concern. And would rather not be dragged into them. Thanks, Jimmy

I sent you a PM about getting you Diamond tables, but with no response it's hard to talk about giving you a trade-in on the tables you have there, including taking them out as well...with no response from your end...I have no idea what you'd like to do...maybe just trade your old GC's out for more GC's I guess;)

Hi Glen,

Thank you for taking the time to speak with John about our project. Not sure if he gave our timeframe May/June of this year. Hopefully this will not change much. We will contact for written bid after the holidays as we are retired and traveling extensively.

I do have to say I have reservations about dealing on this forum. I have belonged to many industry forums over the years but this really took the cake. I thought the guys on steelernation were bad!

To Mark, Not sure if you were trying to help or hurt someone here or both. You really should not comment on things till you have what are called FACTS. When John at classic service pmd us the first time it was inquiring about the anniversary tables. He also gave us two leads for used tables. One was (I learned later) the partner of the gentleman you said deserved it(?) because it was in his "backyard" and "needed" the work. (that really is a red flag in business). The second was Glen Hancock who may have access to some tournament used tables. Glen actually pmd us first. This one assumption led to you calling out all of your peers and challenging them to something I have no clue about.

This really was nothing compared to the amount of messages we received warning us to the '' bad guys''. Your friends have quite the following.
Bear, thank you for keeping it civil. We will send you info to bid. We HAVE to submit three bids.

Glen, thank you again and will contact after the holidays. Not sure if you read our post either! But, we have no gold crowns. We have 2 anniversary tables going to john. Our rec area is being expanded/renovated to accommodate the additional tables.

Steeler1,
Yes this forum does take the cake. It is so hard to believe that someone simply asking for table pricing could cause grown men to publicly bash each other. That being said, whichever of these installers you do decide to use, I am sure you will be pleased with the quality of work. Trust me they are all good mechanics. (I am not)
Enjoy the holidays,
Jimmy

That's OK, I just thought John said something to me about you guys maybe having other tables at the center as well that would need to be removed before replacement tables could be installed...I'm OLD so I can't remember as well who I was talking to last sometimes...LOL...or what I was even talking about...LMAO...but, never-the-less, I always have access to tournamet used Diamond's, so the when is never a problem.

If you were not sure if I was trying to help someone or hurt someone.....why didn't you wait for the FACTS.....AS YOU PUT IT....... DON'T COMMENT UNTIL YOU HAVE THE FACTS.
I truly should have never commented on anything in the first place.

I wasn't trying to disrespect John in anyway....I was just trying to help Bobby get the job.
I'm sorry for sticking my nose where it don't belong.

Glen and I are great friends.....again nothing that Glen or You said caused me to call out guy's that do rail work.......I mentioned Bobby could do rails the right way......John said so can he and a lot of others on Az as well.....

I have no problem with you.....please don't single my posts out.......you ask about tables, and I gave you a top mechanic's name....in witch you take as a red flag....no problem, that's your right to do so.

HAVE A NICE DAY

Mark Gregory

Look John...I have no problem with you what so ever...nor anyone else on here....The guy posted he's looking for 3 bids after we all made comments...you posted....PM sent....way before the guy said anything about 3 bids.
I don't care if you bid a job....that's what you do....but I posted because Bobby needs the work and that is his back yard.
you have a great business....and you will be just fine if you don't get that job.
Just as Bobby should stay out of your back yard.

Yes I do work for people all over the country....only because they ship their rails to me....not recovering or selling tables to them.

I showed Glen what I do with rails and he went around the country showing some others....but Glen has shown people on here how to do all kinds of jobs.
GLEN'S A SUPERSTAR WITH POOL TABLES....BUT GLEN SHOULD HAVE NEVER SHOWED SO MANY GUY'S ON HERE THE WORK THAT I STARTED ON THE RAILS....AND WE ALL KNOW THAT...SPECIALLY GLEN.

AND TRUST ME...OTHER PEOPLE ON HERE DON'T DO THE KIND OF WORK ON RAILS I DO......(BAR NONE).....GLEN WILL SAY HE STARTED CUTTING RAILS OFF TABLES SINCE 1812...BUT THAT'S JUST GLEN BEING GLEN..LMAO
I'M NOT THE BEST POOL TABLE MECHANIC IN THE WORLD...NOT EVEN CLOSE....NOR DID I EVER SAY I WAS...I AM SAYING MY RAILS ARE THE BEST....MORE THAN GLADE TO HAVE A RAIL BUILD OFF WITH ANYONE ON AZ BILLIARDS ANYTIME.....AND NOT PEOPLE MAKING RAILS ON C&C MACHINES.
I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH ANYONE...JUST PM ME IF YOU WANT TO COMPARE RAIL WORK.

THANK YOU....HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AS WELL JOHN.

MARK GREGORY

Very interesting post, wonder why Glen hasn't commented on this?

Not sure if this is the right place to request but one of our members is a reglar here. Sorry if not!

We are a senior community complex located just outside of Phila. Pa. and are revamping our community game rooms and looking for some tables. We currently have two older Brumswick Anniversary tables that we have in two different buildings. We are going to replace them with 4 used or new tables in each location.

We recently received a quote for 8 Gold crown 5 tables that was in excess of 60k! We unfortunately can not go that route and due to the number of current players we have, we really need at least 8 tables.

Our question is if there is anyone or place we can get used gold crown or other commercial tables? Our budget is towards the lower end of 30k. Is this even a reasonable number for 8 tables delivered and setup?

Are there any other tables we should consider? We also need the current tables removed.

Thank you for your time!

I understand the bid process, but I also understand this industry, and I'm really leery of anyone selling used Gold Crowns...because of where they come from to get into the hands of the mechanic's offering to sell them, and what they're willing to do to fix them up right so they're worth buying, and if they even have the skills needed to do the work right in the first place. What scares me even more, is someone that just simply buys used Gold Crowns from pool rooms going out of business, only to try and sell the tables as is...for a profit, not really caring about the overall condition of the tables...because all they're really interested in...is making a turn over profit on their money. Guaranteed work is nothing but a faults sense of security when it comes from a table mechanic, meaning if the mechanic really knows what he's doing, he don't have to guarantee his work...because there's nothing that is going to have to be fixed or worked on after the sale...for any reason, and that is based on the reputation of the mechanic, not his word.

Even I sell used Gold Crowns once in a while, but they're not really Gold Crowns anymore after I'm done working on them, because I did the work, so I know how the table is going to turn out. I've been in this industry for 29 years, which is why I ended up working for Diamond as a design consultant for their pool tables, which is why their tables play so great today, and are in such demand in tournaments, and by buyers all around the world.

I wouldn't mind seeing you get into the Diamond tables, but if not...I'd at least like to see you end up with some tables that you're pleased with overall.

So lets see.
Brunswick the multi million dollar company with the stock symbol that has been traded for almost 90 years, vs Diamond that hasn't been around for quite that long.

I wonder if you were to take both tables apart, which company would be guilty of having PLYWOOD on the inside.

AND NOW BACK TO OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING!

Who can KNOCK everyone else's pool table business deal, because they don't want anyone making a buck if they themselves can't.:D

Wonder which company uses MDF backing on the bottom of the slates to staple to....which blows out and is worthless in about 5 recoveries...and charges about $11,000 for that table:rolleyes:

I've always cared about the buyers being customers, not victims...so, I guess you're right about me, only....I won't be making the sale...so I guess I won't be making any money out of any sale here:rolleyes: If you actually knew something about pool tables...you might actually be dangerous:D
