I'm looking to have an existing shaft tapored to the older Scruggs specs
I understand someone one here has Tim's old shaft equipment

Unless the shaft is over-sized and absolutely dead straight, it won't work. Tim's shaft taper relies on starting with a fullsized shaft blank and taking it down precisely. Another person's shaft has already been tapered, so it really can't be "retapered" like you want.

A shaft machine gets everything very close, but the final sanding is where the fine tuning of the shaft taper comes in.

Grap up some sand papper.

You want a 8 inch straight tapper from the bottom of the ferrel straight back. Then take some meat out of whats left. When it looks right seal it up! I think a couple 50 or 60 shafts should get you started!
I did it on my first try. Seen alot of them though.

Or just grab up the old sand paper and go to town. lol
