Wanting to learn what the terms mean...

What makes you think that if he didnt know the answers to simple s--t like that he would know where the rep button is or what its used for

What are you people, in 4th grade, where you feel the overwhelming need to pass a note asking "Do you like me? Check yes or no."

Seriously, if people are looking for approval or "rep points" on a public forum...get some professional mental health help for your low self-esteem. Trust me when I say this, I literally could not care any less about "rep points", and the only time I've used that "feature" is when someone asked me to, as a test. I'm sure some people will flame me or give me "bad rep points" for saying that, but ya know what? Still don't care, not one iota.

Sheesh....how did asking some simple questions turn into a freakin' flame war?

I find it amusing that I received numerous positive reps for my replies in this thread, but none from the person who asked the questions. To all who did give me rep, my most sincere thanks.

If you responded to his question in an attempt to get rep points, you should have just ignored the post and let someone else respond. I agree that as a courtesy maybe he should have thought to do it, but expecting it is kind of arrogant of you.

Your answer is more civil than mine would have been and your analogy of 4th graders passing notes and wanting love is perfect.

My response was not an attempt to gain rep points from the original poster, or from anyone else. As I stated in another post, I attempted to help because I could, and because others have always helped me in the past. The only reason I mentioned the rep at all, was that two people responded with reps in posts prior to his next post. His thank you after that is more than sufficient for me, and if he asks questions that I'm able to answer in the future, I'll answer them as quickly and to the best of my ability as the questions he asked above.

Beyond the initial post, and the more than sufficient response to it...this is beyond a shadow of a doubt...THE most ridiculous thread I've read circa the last Wheat thread to grace these forums. Stuff like this needs to stop.

I honestly don't know how this turned into a flame war.

Just because other people use the "rep points" thing, doesn't mean *I* am going to. As I said, I could not really care less about it.

All i wanted to do was ask some questions about terms I keep seeing here, and gain some insight. I am thankful for the clear, concise answers, and I'm sure I (or someone else) might have other, related questions along those lines.

But really, just because someone doesn't use the "rep points" and others do, has no bearing on the person whatsoever.

As I said in my last post, I just found it odd that I received rep from numerous people who just read my responses, but none from you. If you don't use the rep feature, that is fine and completely your prerogative. And I will say that you're more than welcome for the answers and I hope they helped. As I also stated, if you have any further questions in the future, and I am able to answer them, I will do so to the best of my ability. My one post about the lack of rep was not intended to be a flame. It was more of a question/comment. Now that that is settled, feel free to ask, and I will answer.
