I hear Jack Cooney would spend weeks setting up a hustle posing as one sort of laborer or another. I spotted these two guys at HOB in Encino posing as table mechanics. Warning do not gamble with either.

You've been warned. Don't let those micro-thin shafts fool you.

Thanks

Kevin

Wow Kevin, saw the same two guys posing as table mechanics at the las Vegas Cue Club a couple of weeks ago. They sure get around! Incidentally, both speak with a heavy Hispanic accent. Think its just to throw us off. thanks for the warning .

Kevin,

Which are they better at? ....lol

You know. There are guys that say they do a better job working on tables. There are guys that say they play better. However, I think there is nobody that can say they are better at both.

That's what I'm saying. Road players posing as Hispanic table mechanics. Then, if they rope you into a game, they snap these cues together with needlepoint shafts an you figure its easy money.

Wrong.

They must have seen Jimmy Mataya's video on hustling. Next they might pose as painters!

Exactly. These two can be said that they excel at both.

Hi Kevin, I was just in there around 6p today and spotted them as well. :)
Just happen to get home and see this post. Cool.

I was the guy trying to shoot with one hand on table 5 or 6 (broke my left arm in March). Will have to introduce myself next time I'm in the area (about every 2weeks). Maybe we can hit some too.

Take care,
Abe

Don't worry about the "Hispanic table mechanics". This is the guy you'd better watch out for. Or maybe they're working together.:yikes:

I could totally see those guys working the suckers!! To see something like that happen would be priceless!
That's probably the best two man team in the world when it comes to table mechanics/players...

These two hustlers are 2 of the reasons I love to play pool. They are people to look up to in many ways!

I think I had probably left just before you got there. I generally approach broken up struggling guys with broken arms (ouch man!). Message me next time you will be in town, I'm trying to start playing again.

Hey risky, Lol... I can only dream to be "one to watch out for" like Oscar & Ernesto! Were you in there at HOB too?

I do wanna share something...

I briefly spoke to Oscar and Ernesto when I first walked in. We were talking about how I broke my arm/wrist and Ernesto shared a quick experience. He said one time he broke his arm or hand, doctor was going to cast up his bridge hand almost completely, and he requested to leave fingers with enough room to make a closed bridge. He then smiled big at me and said he won the next tournament he played. Strong!! (Not sure which tourney, didn't mention.)

By the way, I have to say I really like that father & son duo. They are a class act, true gentlemen, and great for the sport. Before they left HOB, they walked over and said good-bye to most or everyone in there. :). Gotta love it!

Will do, Kevin. Thx.

In a sport where our champions are often angry, unfriendly, suspicious, chip-on-the-shoulders types, these two are way way refreshing, friendly, happy, caring sharing people (who will just beat you to death with a cue).

I love seeing them work together or sweat each others' matches. Loads of respect there. A very classy pair.

Agreed. They were here in Las Vegas last week. They do a great job on the tables here.
