My final thought on this (I hope 
) is that I think it makes about as much sense to tell your opponent he is "shooting the wrong" ball in 8-ball as it does in 9ball. I mean, if the guy has a hanger layout in 8 ball by shooting the one then the 4, and he lines up for the 4 ( a super tough shot and runout), because he doesn't see the one perhaps.... why on earth would you tell him? Or, it makes as much sense to tell him here as it does in 9ball. Anyway, do what you want, but dont cast poorly based assertions either way and I think all are happy.
