Was there a rule create for Efren's Z shot?

Why should we {the followers of pool rules} enable someone to simply wave their hands and make a great shot a foul ??

But the rule about Z shots is that the first 2 banks use 3 units on each side then 2-to-2.3 units on the 3rd leg.

I do "Z" shots often,..... esp in straight pool. Werks for 1-pocket too. Can only claim it if you call it.

Almost certainly not.

Two reasons why this would be ridiculous,

1. Purposefully potting balls off multiple cushions is sufficiently difficult and rare, making against would be like outlawing basketball players from shooting from behind half court. It serves no purpose.

2. Efren was never sufficiently dominant in tournament 9 ball that any rule needed to be established to slow him down. I don’t think he was ever dominant in tournament 9 ball actually.

People online are basically getting carried away about Efren, largely driven by watching highlight videos. And I bet most of them don’t even know what 1 pocket or rotation even is.

I came across this thread on reddit, and someone claimed they changed the rules to handicap Efren, so Z shots are foul. I'm skeptical, and the only thing I can think make Efren call his shots in an attempt to reduce the luck factor.

Maybe during this match, but certainly not in any place in general. Basically they would be outlawing 2+ rail kick shots.

And many of the people cannot recognize the actual luck involved. Like when Efren was going for a two-rail hit and made the ball on three.

Ridiculous. Where does this nonsense come from??? People, Reddit is far from an accurate news/info source. Just random shit posted by random idiots.
FWIW, I get downvoted on Reddit every time I correct someone and remind them APA 8-ball SL7 isn't pro level.

The last time I looked in on r/billiards it was clear that the moderator is an idiot. Or maybe he has discovered that the BS keeps people clicking.

keeping people clicking is keeping money coming in. there is a method to doing or saying stupid things.

That article was shared in a non-billiards section of Reddit so you’re seeing responses from extra lay folks.

In general the regular r/billiards is mostly a mirror of what you see in Pool is not Dead or here. The only difference I see is that here you have a lot of well informed zealotry and the bonus of some real deal contributors like Bob, Stu, Dave, etc. here.

Beginners ask for help more over there and seem to appreciate advice. And the tree-like approach to topics is neat in that you don’t see two people hijack a thread like here because honestly that branch of discussion would just get downvoted and ignored. Which seems to be the gist of Reddit where most people might contribute for their own edification but I see minimal meanful exchanges between folks either.
