Disagree. First of all the elite chalks are not $30 but the green TAOM is objectively better (99% of snooker players use it) and it lasts months. if you play 2 or 3 times only a week by the time it runs out it costs probably like 30 cents a day.
I use one on my case and love it. It takes like 2 secs to screw in after you take them off your cue and don't have to worry about them rolling off, forgertting them or digging around in a pocket to find them when done.believe it or not, they actually make and sell,

What are we supposed to protect our joint from?
Well Paul Drexler has told me that over time just the accumulation of dust and chalk can ruin the joints and that he does a lot of repairs strictly related to not using JPs on older cues. It also does protect the joint from impact damage and damage to the collars. It is honestly so little effort that if I am even just protecting against a 1 in a 100 thing, my cues are unique enough that I am willing to spend the extra 15 seconds to put them on and off.

For as scientific as his videos are, the chalk preference ones are the easiest ones to introduce human error and subconscious bias into. I'm not saying it's on purpose, but those videos don't pass the scientific rigor check. They should be double blind at least.
"Oh, Masters? I'll maker sure I double whatever the designer chalks do." could be going through his head (or wouldn't it be funny if the cheap stuff was just as good, etc) so those videos IMO are best used for entertainment purposes. Even if Dr. Dave is trying his best to be objective, it's hard to do, even for an intelligent human who is aware of bias.
Just make sure your dealer doesn't deal in fenty and you're ok. They don't lace shit but cross contamination can happen.
Does he by any chance sell joint protectors? If so he's probably just a good salesman.

These aren't a waste of money. I got a nice one from Taobao for real cheap. Leather with reinforced holes and yellow stitching. My friend is making a custom one for me now.
I am not digging around my case, or losing my JP around the place.

$96. So unbelievably silly IMO. I'm not cheap on pool stuff but my goodness. Look up some youtube videos.
I remember a few years back someone was selling a hard plastic cap you'd slip over your cue tip. If you hit the cue ball a little off center it would squirt way off so you'd know. Supposed to help teach you to hit center ball and I suppose it would in a way. Don't think they're around any more, maybe evolved into tip protectors. Not chalking probably would work as well.
Getting lucky to me is taking good u know...
Last I checked Kamui is still $30 per cube. If expensive chalk does not help me win I don't see how its not a waste of money. As far as it being cleaner I'm not going to stop cleaning my table because its supposed to be cleaner, I don't seem to have a mess problem with my current chalk.
