"A cuestick's good looks can affect a player's mindset, and give him or her a competitive edge."
Yup...
Reminds me of when me and my buddy were starting out playing. We went together to buy my first cue (a viper...look out). He saw a "sweet" looking cuetec and bought it a few days later. It did look sweet to two newbies...but I'm not sure about the competitive edge part.
Interesting, but for me disappointing. I saw a similar video a while ago from viking. They covered the obvious things. Yeah, it's a big round stick with some CNCing done for the inlays. I kind of knew that. I always wanted to know how they do full splices, veneers, etc... I'm curious about the precise cutting that (at least I imagine) needs to be done. And what about those box veneers that you see. Are those cut all the way into the wood somehow, or are they CNCed? And how did they do it before they had CNC mills?! Of course, if I really wanted to know I'd post this in the cuemaker's area.;-)
I still have the viper at home (mom's). It's in a high quality 35 year old softcase with a broken zipper next to the (drafty) door...
Poor first cue...
