Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me the differences between a water buffalo and a pigskin tip, other than they are made from two separate types of leather. Mainly wondering about the feel, ability to hold chalk, and gripping the cue ball. thanks.

I've used WB's for many years as my standard tip. They are harder than most tips and usually hold shape pretty well. It's good policy to chalk for every shot with those tips. I think the layered pigskin tips tend to hold chalk a little better. Many of my customers have been leaning towards the Kamui brand of layered tips these days over Moori. I also like the Wizard brand a lot.

bryan sent me my cue with a WB tip on it. the tip is great imo.

Thanks Bryan. I have been testing tips over the past few months, trying to find the one I like the best. So far the kamui brown med-softs have been the best for me, but they harden up as they get lower. If these water buffalo tips run harder, then would you think I should even consider trying one of the different brands of water buffalo tips? I just bought a predator z2 shaft and am looking for a possible replacement tip because i dont really like the everest tip.

A question I've had if you don't mind me jumping in, does WB tips only come in black like I've seen or do they also make brown tips? Thx, Ron

I would definitely consider trying one out.

The WB brand of water buffalo tips come in black and brown. I believe Atlas used to be the exclusive dealer of the WB black tips, I don't know if this is still the case or not. The brown tips are finish up very dark though.
