Can't find butchers bowling alley wax locally. Anyone ever tried this Renaissance Wax? For final coat on shaft for sealing pores. Tried Rain X and did not seem to prevent blueing but the shaft was very slick. Thanks, John

LP Customs sells shaft wax in 1 ounce containers. I like it as good as anything else I tried. You can find him on this site with search.

Have Renaissance Wax on the shelf, has not touched it except from opening the lid and having a look.
So far I have been using Chris H wax and it has been working pretty well.
I think you could find a bunch of answers if you do a search ;-)

Chris Hightower's wax works pretty well even without a lathe, and responds favorably to further burnishing or adding to it a week or two afterward, even by hand. A can lasts for a long time.

I have tried some car waxes / sealants but they don't work the same.

I have found that using a sealer (I use Chris' too) and fine sanding (micromesh) to the point where it is smooth feeling and then applying a very light coat of wax is a good option.
