WB tips

So I checked out these tips, they are fantastic for a hard tips fan. They are like a Lepro, but good. I am back to the game after years away, so I missed the layer tips evolution, but not a fan of them. This WB tip played as one of the best tip I have used, have tried many. It hits solid and can get all the English you need and still not $25 a tip

Glad you have had as good of an experience as I have had with them, But know the black ones are harder than the brown, not sure what ones you got.

I wouldn't compare them to Le pros. They are much harder. The batch of 5 I brought, only one was bad. The rest played really nice. If you like a very hard tip. And They don't tend to mushroom up as bad, as others. Can't go wrong with these. The price is a plus too.

These are the only tip I play with. I play with a high dollar cue and People always say how nice my cue is and when I get asked about what kind of tip I use I tell a Water Buffalo tip that cost about 50 cents each. These tips are very responsive and last a long time.

I'm surprised no one has tried to make a tip out of groundhog hide. Anyone who has had the experience knows how tough that hide is!

I always played with Lepro. The last one was put in a vice. It played great and did not mushroom at all. I was going to have another one put on a different shaft and the tip guy said he has some pre 1990 WB tips left, because nobody uses them anymore. I told him I will take one. I told him to put it in a vice or hit it with a rubber hammer a bunch.

I have had it a month it keeps mushrooming.

Bad tip or normal?

Water Buffalo is my favorite tip for sure. I’ve got a techno dud I’m going to try out but if it doesn’t work I’ll be going back to the wb

I never had mushrooming with them myself, sounds like a bad tip. Maybe they can go bad with time if they’re not stored correctly idk

Csim, Howdy;

Are you burnishing the sides?

I've always used LePro but something interesting is occurring with the leather.
I am now using a smaller diameter shaft, much stiffer and still using lepros.
This isn't gonna work.
Just realized it last week.
?????
I have a big swing, usually 2 maybe three times I'll have to retrim/burnish before the next tip goes on.
Now I'm doing it more and squish is more.
Smaller leather area, more Focal point force, I realize now, I have to find a good layered tip.
A tip that will hold it's structure.
Because the cue is Stiffer and the shaft is smaller, the LePros become beat up and the fibre structure breaks down 1/2 way thru their life.
I can't imagine a lepro tip....holding up very long with a 12.5 carbon fiber shaft and a Shaw swing.

I wouldn't give up on the single layer.

Triangle's will work just fine....or, for layered,

Searing H
Thoughbred H
How MH
How H

No problem pounding them.... even with 11.8

Tooler.......>not a slow roller.

I like triangles too.they are very nice tips.they are a lot like elkmasters, in that, you have to search, to find the good ones in a box.or you get lucky buying a batch of them.
Stay away from the grayish colored ones. The darker the better.

If you can find 15MM triangles start with those and trim down. They are thicker. But that’s not the reason why

The reason why is the 15’s are only from the top of the hide and are more consistent from tip to tip because they can only be harvested from a small part of the hide. They are hard to find. But worth the effort. 14mm are ok too. 13’s are way to inconsistent

Do you know if they same as true of Lepro and WB?
