We Could All Learn From Streamed Matches

I believe that one of the best ways to learn how to play better pool is by watching the top players on streams. I have improved all parts of my game by watching where and how the top pros hit the CB, how to use rails better for position, kicking the right way, and just about any other part of the game you could think of.

If the stream is clear and has good close up camera work you can learn a lot by watching how they shoot certain shots. I learn more from the tv streams from China, PI, and Taiwan because as a rule they have more cameras.

Also if you can play parts of the stream in slow motion it helps a lot. Add watching videos of yourself to compare and you have a great way to learn. JMO, but it works for me. Johnnyt

I completely agree.. when I first started playing pool in a local money league.. I couldn't make a ball to save my life.... Its been two years since I picked up a cue and my position play cue ball control kicking.. stroke.. all from a few instructional videos and watching top pros on youtube... it really brought my game up.

Now I'm at the point where I think seeing an actual instructor will bring my game up even more.. hopefully soon I'll be able to scrape some funds together.. Have to do a bit of traveling since there aren't any top instructors in Vermont :-\

What do you mean by "kicking the right way"? I didn't know there was a wrong way except one that doesn't make contact with the OB. Could you give a little more explanation for a pool dummy?

Most of the time there is more than one way to kick a ball. Maybe one rail, two or three rails. You need to pick the one with the best angel and %. You want to hit the OB in a certain place ( maybe full ball hit) to have a good chance of leaving a safe that is hard to hit by kicking and hard to hit by jumping.
