Greetings:
I proposed a solution a couple years back before the launch on a new idea for live streaming billiards with eCommerce in mind. We all know that in numbers we succeed.
I'm willing to go to work for you and bust my ass to systematically link all of our dedicated servers that many in the industry pay for on a monthly basis already.
If you don't have a dedicated? Get one. They're affordable. It can be as affordable as $60 a month for a small one. Preferably, a dedicated with at least a 1gig port & 10TB of bandwidth a month. Typically these run $99 a month to $129 a month.
Immediately with your own dedicated, you can start recouping these expenses by offering a few friends some hosting space for their websites and such.
I know some of you currently host your sites on someone else's box, and pay $5 or $10 a month usually, sometimes more.
All of your existing database and website can be migrated to your own dedicated. I know many of you use Wordpress. This is done very easily. I can even do this for you free of charge.
The reason why I'm offering up all this help to combine these servers across the country is very simple. We can create our own CDN and Cloud hosted live streaming service with a back end suitable to sustain the thousands of viewers and bandwidth by just coming together. We can then end the need for middlemen who make the money from our hard work producing and creating the content we love to do. Also, we can even start the embark on the players benefiting financially from outside sponsorship. More or less we're creating the YouTube and Ustream for billiards.
We need to stand up and wave goodbye to those have have made millions from our content. They have enough content for the next 100 years to continually make advertising revenue from. I think this is why some had made the decision to just quit. How can you compete with Free? You simply can't. How can you generate more content with different players instead of the same match ups over and over? You simply just can't make new world champions overnight either.
This is not a message to hate, ***** or yell and scream about how you stream. I respect that we are all different. We all have different agendas financially. But I would hope that many of our agendas is to be able to go anywhere in the world and stream without the worry of the expenses. Stream the best players too.
We can still do our own things. This is not a hustle. This is a REAL PROBLEM we face in the future. Technology is rapidly surrounding our industry. I think what EVERY ONE has done thus far to contribute to the craziness exposure of our sport, has been a selfless act. That I'm truly grateful, but there comes a time where it peaks. I think it has peaked, and we need to ride down the hill with as much armor as possible. I'm afraid we'll loose out on the opportunity to really set our industry free from all the middlemen and the players can get what they deserve. Currenly all the revenues generated from live streams go to the directors and the streamers to cover the costs associated. Guess what, AGAIN, the players are last in line to get a paycheck. This needs to change, and very badly. We can do it together!
I'm in a great position now more than ever. I've worked stupid hard for over 4 years on all sorts of billiard projects. Yes I'm a NIT, but I can tell you I want to move beyond NIT status. I want to move onto legendary nit status. I'm a super nerd. Thankfully I have been playing pool and in billiards my whole life. It is my pass time. America's best pass time in my eyes.
Thanks for listening to my rants and ideas. I think it's time we make a stand. Even AZ Billiards could cut loose some of their space and bandwidth to link into the action. And we can all benefit from a huge CDN for live streaming. FREE OF CHARGE, Free of Commercials, Free to the industry, supported by the industry. We have that option. We just have a huge ego barrier to break.
