Jim Buss sends out list from time to time of some of the local tournaments. You could e-mail him and ask him to put you on his mailing list, or when you get in town just call some of the pool halls and ask them. There are a lot of local tournaments.

St. Louis Tournaments
There's a pretty good handicapped 9-ball tournament at "Just One More" (70 west from St. Louis to Cave Springs exit continue west on North service road about 1/2 mile down...right hand side in small little plaza just after car dealership.) It's on Saturdays starting at 1:00PM
There's generally a pretty good mix of A through C players...20 dollar entry fee, no quarters.
Teacher's Billiards in St. Peters, corner of 94 and Jungermann in plaza next to Rich and Charlies. They sometimes have a small 9-ball tournament on Sunday and Monday nights (sometimes handicapped, sometimes race to 3, no quarters 12 dollar entry fee) Usually just depends on if they get enough people...usually starts around 7:30 or 8:00, might want to call first and see if they're having it.
There's also one just across the river in Alton, Illinois on Sundays...I know it's handicapped but it's been a while since I've been there, so I don't remember much else about it.
