I have a heavy break cue and was wondering if pulling the weight would lighten it up and not affect the structural integrity of the cue?

It will make it lighter and will not affect the structural integrity of the cue....

It's a cheap j&j. Part of the reasons I ask is because the bolt is longer then the Palm of my hand. I thought weight bolts were significantly shorter usually. I just wanted to try a lighter break cue because I'm reading more and more about the benefits of not having such a heavy cue.

I've seen weight bolts as long as 6 inches. If you need a weight bolt to hold the butt cap, sometimes you can source a short bolt or even one made from aluminum which would have very little weight.

It has a push in bumper, just a regular run of the mill set up. So I guess I should be fine then.

If you'd like to experiment a little with different wghts.,
pull your bolt and take it to a hdwr store.
If they can match it, buy several in different lengths.
