I've been playing a guy 8-6 and beating him really bad.
We adjusted to 9-6 and Friday I won 6 games, what now?
10-6 or 9-6 and the break?
We are senior friends and only play for $5 a game but still I want him to have a chance.

Giving up the break should be worth a ball.
I have a feeling you are not playing at full speed against him, so giving up balls might just make you play harder. It may not make a difference until you have settled on 10/5

Is he just trying to learn how to play? $5 a game is a cheap lesson. I used to play a guy nobody else would play and never asked for a spot. Lost $100’s every week. But I got good in the process. He’d always happen to be in the area on payday or the day after…..

A buddy of mine, much better than me, always stops in when his truck is low on gas... 😂

In the 70s I witnessed the largest spot in one pocket I ever saw. George "Whitey" Michael's spotted someone 8 to close. Whitey drew an arc from one point to the other in his opponent's pocket. All he had to do his pocket one ball or have or have one stop inside the arc. The poor fellow never made a ball.

How are you beating him? How's his defense/offense? Besides balls you can allow some free fouls. All kinds of incentives.

I have a friend who's a good one pocket player. He plays me pretty often for cheap with the understanding that if he has a game for more money, he can bail. We started at 9-6 went through a period of adjusting. We eventually settled on 9-4, it's a pretty even game now.

I give a guy 10-6 and a handspan.
I don't play very good, and he's got big hands. It makes it interesting, but he still usually finds a way to lose.
