Weight of shaft wood

I have heard many opinions on the density and weight of shaft wood regarding playability and I'm curious what some of you folks think. I have generally sought 3.7oz shafts for wood to wood cues and slightly higher if they have a brass insert and are around 12.75-13mm. I've had a few in the 3.5oz range with nice tapers that have played just as well. What are your thoughts?

I wonder how much of the weight of the shaft can be attributed to specific density - and how much is taper, diameter, and length?

In my experience - I prefer fatter shafts (full 13mm), and weights of better than 4 oz on a 29 inch shaft with a brass piloted insert.
