Today is the toughest day of the tournament. Starts at 5am PST and goes until 2am EST. Flying on a booked aircraft. Every seat is filled. We get peanuts and coke for lunch. JRHendy spending his time on One Pocket. Org trying to get out of his bad games. Weather on arrival is snow 1-3 inches, 30 degrees high. Tonight we will head over to the Bank shot to see if anything is going on. Last time I went there, some guy from 30 years ago recognized me. Truman may be there, it's one of his hangouts. Maybe there will be action tonight if the tables are set up in the action rooms. One thing for sure in on the adgenda, ice cream parlor every day

We must have waffles. Just down the street, Waffle Hut. Coffee and grits, waffle, ummm ummm ummmm. We we left to get breakfast, 10 degrees. By the time we got back, a balmy 14 degrees. Bank pool tournament just started. JR plays some guy from Europe @ 4:00, Shane Von something or another. Two unknowns play at 6:30 and Eric Krause plays at 6:30. Last night Dippy was walking around asking, "who will give me the nuts in one pocket?" Some straight shooter from the east coats gave him the nuts with Corey being allowed to coach him. Around midnite Dippy was down 6-7 games but made a comeback. I think the game was 10-4 for 1k. I was sleeping. Nap time.

:eek::grin:It's Sunday. Friday night JR and I had Hot Browns at the restaurant. Right after dinner, we both we driving the porcelain bus. Wiped me out and drove up the pain levels. We are both pretty much back to normal. I think it is the water. Different microbes than what we are used too. Play here in banks has gone up appreciably. Seems like everyone who owns a cue can run five and out. I spoke to the guy who drilled me and he said bank pool was about all they played besides nine ball. He lives in this area, Muncie, and said that since the DCC more people have been playing banks. I wonder if one of the joints back home can start having a tournament? Today starts the one pocket. The banks will be getting down to the finals. Only west coast person left is Rafeal and Jerry from Ventura. Tons of action. There are so many young guns here, (because I'm so old?) that you can't keep up. WWDD What WOULD Dippy do? It's a Tee shirt and I have to have one. On the back is given the answer. Thought I was going to have to leave for LA. Not yet. Hopefully not for awhile. Weather was great today, inside. Outside, high, 12 degrees. It's supposed to warm up today, so it can snow some more. Football conflict at 2 pm. Football/ One pocket. One pocket/Football. Life is full of tough decisions. JR is matched up later tonight. I will be looking for low hanging fruit.

:dance::dance::dance:Earl was playing the Candy Man when I arrived to watch the bank tournament on the Acustats table. Earl was up in games 2-1. Candy man was old school banker. Called his balls by color and shot very, very, deliberate. On open shots he took his time and made good shots, good position and good safes. On difficult shots, he looked, looked at another shot, looked again at the first shot, the second shot, the first shot, a safe, the first shot. Earl had smoke coming out of his ears. Candy man was looking at five K and it's big money too him. he was being very deliberate. Then Earl starting chatting to the rail. Then to Accustats. Then the rail. Shaking his head. Meantime, Candy Man is still mulling over his shot. Earl finally engages Candy Man when he was stroking for a shot. Candy Man just got more deliberate. More smoke. Candy man wins game four. Two to two. Candy man gets up by one and the chatter between Earl and the rail is getting higher. It's funny in a way, but disrespectful mostly. Finally Candy Man has Earl twisting in the wind. Four to two, Candy Man. Earl says something to him and the Candy Man says to Earl, you don't understand anything about banks. Several times keeps repeating it and the crowd is roaring. Candy Man has two good shots at the out ball, but can't pull the trigger. Earl makes his third ball. Candy man has a good shot at out. Misses and Earl stakes the last two for the victory. It was a good match, Earl was Earl and the Candy Man still has a buy back.

Let's see, the sun just came up. I lost a day somewhere. In the banks, Alex first, Alacante, then Brumbeck. Excuse my spelling. It's starting to warm up. Snow is melting and the action is hot and heavy. Bob Ohashi got knocked out of banks. Only local in the money was Jerry. Ron, Bob, Al buying back in one pocket. Here's some news. Simon was scheduled to play the black widow. I was sleeping and missed the match but Simon still has a buyback to get. JR played in the old mans tournament last night, actually Monday night. Rolled in about 5:30. Finished in the money. He's playing his partners match today. The score was 3-3 at the end of six hours. They had to take a break to play in the tournament. JR has his buyback left. I didn't enter the one pockets. My pain levels were too high and by the time I recovered it was too late. I'll spend the money on ice cream instead. WWDD As usual Dippy has been in action all day. It would take a second blog and a full time secretary to keep track of his action. One of his poker buddies is rumored to have lost 500K. Wow. The top women players are here, Julie and Karen Corr. Karen Corr is a very beautiful
woman. They may be great nine ball players, but in banks and one pocket

they are just learning. Very nice to talk to either of them. Of course The Black
Widow is here. I let her ride in the elevator with me. she is putting on a little
show out in the entrance to the tournament room. Ten dollars a game to play
her on a little bar table. She is selling autographed stuff, very expensive.
Tonight, last night, now, she had a big money match. Don't have any results.

Little quickie before I head down to one pocket. JR moves on after 10am match with Cory. Next up is Ocha. Jerry lost 10am. Heat wave yesterday 42 in the overcast. Snow last night again. Got to run. More later. Did I say Dippy was in action? Dippy was in action. Jennette Lee, nine ball, Cliff, one pocket, and on and on.

How much snow did they get down there? I'm coming in tomorrow morning and I was wondering about the roads.

Wednesday I think. Being up for two days in something young guys do. JR made a mistake in game one being up 5-zip. Ocha moves on. This little town where the Casino is near was an ammunitions manufacturing stronghold during WWII. Driving around in the winter, it's looks depressed. Of course, there hasn't been sunshine since we arrived. Being up only at night may have something to do with it. Theres so much to do. Watch nine ball, one pocket. Watch cash games. Play one pocket. You need thirty hours in a day. They say the food here is better than at the Executive. A little. The food in this area is cooked to the way people like it. I mean really, how do you overcook mashed potatoes? If it is a vegetable and it isn't cooked until it's colorless, it's not done. For a casino hotel, this is one of the cheapest for providing extras. No refrigerator, microwave, shower caps, travel tooth brushes. Most hotels all over the country are providing as much as they can to get guest, but no, not here. The snow is gorgeous right after it falls and it's warm enough today to go out without two pair of thermals, a sweat shirt, heavy coat, gloves, scarf, and hat.:grin-devilish::grin-devilish::wave::wave:
Today you don't need the thermals. It's about time for ice cream. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.

It's funny that you mention the lack of extras at the hotel. I was a little shocked the first year that there wasn't at least a refrigerator we could put some of our drinks or lunch meat in. We still bring them in a cooler and keep it iced down since I don't feel like paying for the food at the hotel every day.

You can get a little refrigerator for ten a day. I have been putting things in the window. There's no free Internet, no shower head covers for women. Basic room. The prices are high for nowhere, Indiana. In one pocket Jerry (Ventura) has made it the eight round. One more round and I think he plays on the TV table.

Nine ball started. Johnny Archer and his skinny, tall, southern, straight shooting clones also. He just demolished some guy in the first TV match. Jerry has fin all hung up his cue for the one pocket. Ninth round knockout by Strickland who not only said he did not foul when people from the back row could see, whined about people cheering for Jerry. Jerry, much to his credit, stayed quiet. Then between games when the score was two, two, Jerry told Earl in no uncertain terms NOT TO TALK DURING JERRYS turn. Strickland did not like it, but he shut up. Jerry had a chance to win with the score 5-3, his favor, when he over cut a safe and left the whiner a bank for the five ball run. Sylver and Freezer were 2-2 and Sylver missed cross corner for the win. Scott got out from nowhere, I mean great out, for the 3-2 victory. Brumbeck says he wants to come out. Teach some banks to people. Did I say Dippy was in action? One pocket finals in the morning. The rest of the night is action and the fat boy challenge. There is so much money here. Why can't the DCC be every day?:wave2::wave2::wave2::bash::bash::dance::dance::dance:

Dippy getting 18-4 beats Corey again. Al wins side bet and gets stiffed for part. We played last night but then Jennette started playing in the two table area we were in for the big bucks so we quit even. One pocket finals are today. TV match between Shannon and Scott this morning was disappointing. Scott couldn't hit the side of a rail. Shannon wins 3-0. Alex, the only other no loss player in the one pocket besides Scott, has a loss after playing Neil from Europe. It's getting close to the end of the tournament so that means instead of having ice cream once a day, it's almost mandatory to have ice cream twice a day. I haven't left the hotel in two days. Today for sure. No more snow last night but what we do have hasn't melted. Nine ball continues. It's nap time. My sleep schedules are off.

The story on Dippy is he wears the players out in the first couple of matches, getting 18-4. Then he jumps up after a couple of sets and takes all the action he can. Last nights Jennette was going on until 7am. No particulars. Finals of one pocket. Strickland and Shane Von. It was 9 ball one pocket played at the top level. Strickland got out in the third game from nowhere. A cross corner that 95% of all players would be happy to kick out, he banked and played shape on a ball in the opposite corner up table. From there he made six balls from the kitchen and then the last ball. Great great runout. Shane won the third game and the tournament, beating Alex on the way. I played last night for about six hours. Local boy from San Jose. I have had three matches. San Jose, Santa Cruz, San Jose. One, one, and one. Tomorrow the last day for the fat boy ten ball challenge. Rodney and Appleton. Appleton had a run of 183 in the straight pool. Tomorrow is also the last day for me to go out and see people I know. I may just go into louisville and visit the school? Always brings back nice memories to go back to college. Bad diet today. Pulled pork and ice cream, Ginger ale and fries. Here come the sun. Time for bed.

happydance::happydance::speechless::clapping::clapping::grin-angelic:. Rodney won the Fat Boy, 9k. Last day. If Alex wins the nine ball or finishes high, he is the all around champion. Alex is playing heads up over every one else. He has a great personality and really enjoys himself. It seems like we have been here forever and yet it has gone by in a flash. I was going to play last night but closing my eyes seemed liked the better choice. There should be lots of action tonight. Can't wait to get home and eat familiar foods and sleep in my bed. Weather is downright balmy. In the low forties and the sun actually came out for a few hours. It has been great as usual. They added some more seating to watch the action. The biggest disappointment is the TAR. They have it set up in a very small room and it gets overcrowded fast. The vendors are doing better than last year. The prices are up though. I have been talking to Brumback about coming out and giving lessons or doing a group exhibition. Anyone interested should talk to your local operator and see if we can get him to come out. I would let him stay at my house, but he's a smoker. Time for matches. Good luck to all.

Well, you are making me want to come out there and visit. I cant believe all the guys from the Santa Cruz and San Jose are there playing. That is great. Well, going to have to make it a point to go there one day. Hope you book a winner, thanks for the updates Kentucky! See you the third week of February in the Bay Area.

Straight from the Derby, Shane wins his match 7-6. Made a great jump shot to get out! Finals will be at 10PM Tonight! With his win, SVB HAS WON THE ALL AROUND! What a stud!

We'll have to play for a dollar a game until I sell the Crossfire. Paid cash for the Caddy.

Finally homeward bound

JR Hendy was supposed to write the close out. Probably fell asleep at the airport. Lots of bleary eyed players at the airport. Elevators were filled with suitcases and plane tickets. Chicago is my way home, only adds three hours to the trip. So final total was four games played by me, 2-1-1. Not bad. Broke even for the trip with my stuff. As soon as we asked for the bill to check out they turned of out TV. Never seen that before. Waffle hut was the first stop out of town. Then I make a wrong turn going to the airport so JR got a tour of Butchertown, downtown, Victorians, U of L and then the airport. We had to wait because we got there too early to check bags. The Chicago airport is huge and many good places to eat. Action last night? Jennette played. A bunch of people played but nothing like last year. Dippy took everyones money and left town. The trip was fun as usual. The last day when it is ending, the adrenalin is still flowing. Then staying up all night playing, getting two hours sleep, knocked me out. I'm sleeping the whole way home from Chicago and tomorrow. If you haven't been, forget it. There's always the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.
