Western TV Show - 8 Ball On HORSEBACK

Even back then when everyone had horses, I'll bet there were still more horse's asses than there were horses hanging around pool rooms. :frown:

Serendipity...........

I even went to the NBC Universal archives and came up blank.:(

Greg,

Life is kind of peculiar at times, sometimes in a good way. This is one of those times.

I had to publicly thank you for making me a very happy guy. Although I have yet to find this particular tv episode for download purposes, you opened another window and in effect, provided me with much appreciated serendipity.

My family's history is very short, since my grandfather was the only surviving member of our family in The Great Hurricane of 1900. I have done a lot of digging into our family history since my son asked me several years ago to write a book about our family's history and my life's experiences. The book is almost complete and ready for printing and family consumption. I don't want to spend the last years of my life working with an editor to structure the book properly. It's already 200 pages long and could take a very long time to properly edit. I guess my family will just have to be satisfied that I spent 7 years writing about our family and overlook my unstructured writing.

I did not know about the newspaper search feature that you used and so I checked it out and saw how easy it was to use. I will be using it to locate articles as it relates to my small family history. In addition, I found this newspaper quote about my Filipino pal Lee Van Corteza. This newspaper clipping would never have been found if you hadn't have dropped that search feature at my portal.

This tool will be used many times over the next year.

THANK YOU!

I accidentally found the newspaper search.

Hey Joey,
Your original post, tickled a very vague memory. I thought I had seen the movie you described but could not remember any details.

I happened upon the newspaper search simply by using gooogle search for "TV movie 'billiards on horseback' ". So the newspaper search is new to me as well. Like you I find it very interesting and plan on using it in the future to recheck some of my hazy memories.

Redneck Jim has posted this link to purchase the episode.

Glad I was able to help.

I've just sent off my payment via Paypal and the seller has received it so now all I have to do is wait for the seller to ship it from California to Louisiana.

I'm sure there will be a kind of antithesis of elation when I actually watch the movie. It's kind of like going back to the house you grew up in as a child. It's not nearly as big as you remember and the magic is not quite as powerful as it once was.

Still, while it lasts, I am elated and excited with anticipation, hoping that this is "the one".

Thanks to all of you for giving me rest on this bucket list item. :clapping:

If you knew how many hours I have invested over the years in chasing down this movie, you would know just how tenacious I can be. :D

what took you so long? All you had to do is ask...
I'd enjoy the book, keep us updated.

P.s "Little" Joe Villalpando says hello, I heard some good story's about your guys travels.
You two should get together, you two probably remember stuff that the other might of forgotten.

Yeah, I was Joe's chauffeur for a few years, scuffling from one tournament to the next.

However, I take credit for motivating JoeV to make the greatest comeback since Lazarus. He'll know the one.

Shipper of DVD movie says it went out yesterday.

Robert Byrne had an illustration of the dueling cowboys on a Chapter break page in one of his books. Forgot which one...

I just looked through my Byrne's Advanced Technique in Pool and Billiards book to no avail. Thanks for the heads-up!

Finally: THE LADY IS MY WIFE. Begona Palacios as Lolla

After all these many years, I finally saw the western movie with the two men playing pool on horseback for a woman and an Arabian stallion.

Thank everyone for putting up with my requests to find this movie.

Yes, it was an expensive Arabian stallion instead of the gold that I remembered.

Like many things from your youth, when you go back to revisit, you find that the house you grew up in, wasn't quite so large. The playground of your youth no longer holds the magic that it once did. Time moves on.

My memory played a reverse trick on me. The 8 ball was near the first diamond nearest the foot rail but the opposite side of the table and the cue ball was in a similar spot to what I remembered and the wealthy rancher did pocket the 8 ball in the side pocket.

The movie didn't take long to view because the commercials had been removed. It was a very old movie and the resolution was poor but watching it was like eating a hearty meal after a long day's work. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was much, much more than I expected or remembered.

I will sharing this movie with my good friend who plays pool and like westerns.

If any of you would like to know how the movie goes and ends, I would be happy to sum it up for you. (just let me know and I will write it in this thread) It has a very interesting ending that I did not remember and so reminds me of the life of a pool player, it is uncanny.

I know this movie probably doesn't mean much to any of you but it made a strong impression on me and for some reason, the real moral of the story was lost on me and I only remembered the great 8 ball shot. How sad................

Again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for helping me to strike this item off of my bucket list.
