What a Finish!

I just wanted to share this an know if anyone else had noticed this. I purchased a Tascarella cue from Marcus going on a year ago and have played with it extensively. I have a tendency to be rough on a cue and have banged the buttcap against the table a few times, have had others accidentally hit my cue with theirs playing on the adjacent table, you know inflicted the usual kind of abuse a playing cue gets.

Here is the thing-This cue shows no sign of ever being touched, the finish has no dings, marks, mars, and ever other cue I have ever owned seemed to show the abuse. I have chipped two or three buttcaps on other cues with the same type of treatment.

Is there something special that Pete Tascarella does to his finishes that makes them harder and/or more resistant to dings? This is unique in my experience with cues and is a great feature.

Thanks for any input on this.

Wonder if it's the same stuff that Keith Josey used on my cue?! It's been hit with other cues, hit the metal caps on Valley barboxes several times, and I've hit the rails a couple of times coming off the break. Still, nada, nothing, zippo, zilch...looks just as lovely as the day I received it.

Gotta love a maker who uses a nice durable finish!!!!

Porche clear

The Tascarella's use the same finish that is used on Porche's. It's real hard and clear.

Wow, that would explain it. I guess all automotive clearcoat finishes are not created equal. Thanks for that information.

There are probably as many clear coat products as there are colors. IIRC there is a product called Glisten that is super durable. Used on aluminum wheels. I do know the Porsche clear coat is super hard yet flexible. Amazing stuff being produced these days.

Hey Ride I noticed that too. Mine has had a few knocks and is still pristeen.
I wonder how he got the shafts so smooth?

I know you got some Timeless Timber shafts with yours Do you like them? Do they hit stiffer than Kieth's standard shafts? I got 2 hand selected shafts and they are pretty damn nice. I'm thinking of having Kieth make one. What tips are you using? Mine have an Everest and a Kamui black medium on them. The Everest is damn near perfect. Works just about as good as a Predator with a pleasant solid hit.

If you could PM me with you're observations and impressions I would really appreciate it.
