so last night we were sitting around the pool room and couldnt get any kind of game or partners game going because of the disparity in skill levels........when one guy recommended we play "double check". Id never heard of it but it sounded ok, so we played and had a blast. It involves drawing 3 pills for each person, those are your balls that you need to make (or have someone make for you) to win.......there are wild balls on the table (1,7,9,15) that you have to make to begin your run, then you can make balls on either side of those to get to the balls you need to make. First man with all his balls off the table wins, for every ball you have left you pay a dollar.
Ive heard of other games i have no idea how to play, like golf, 31, etc. Is there a website somewhere with different games and how you play, or do any of you know fun games other than the standard 8ball 9ball snooker bank straight. Please post the games up and how you play them.......i want to introduce some new ones to my poolroom.

cut throat is fun.....divide the balls up between the players, pull pills, break, and you try to NOT make your balls.

RING GAMES....love em!, partner ring games to equal out lopsided guys are fun.

then there are always proposition shots.....:D

Poker Pool!! I would have to say that it should be 4 players max. And you never know who could win!

Try Fargo Flip

It's multiplayer 9-ball (or 10-ball), and it's a lot of fun. People can come and go after each game. It can be played with from 3 to about 6 players. It works well (better than a ring game) with a range of skills.

The ante could be anything--let's say it's a quarter to try it out. So imagine there's 5 players, and everybody has a handful of quarters. At the start of every game, each player flips a coin. The "tails" are one team, and the "heads" are the other team, just for the one game.

Tails team always breaks. Players on each team play "scotch doubles" style, i.e., alternating shots. They may shoot in any order but must maintain the order throughout the game. Coaching is allowed. With 5 players, it could be one against four, or it could be two against three.

Suppose it's two against three, and the two-team loses.
At the end of every game, each member of the losing team throws one quarter on the table for each member of the opposing team (here each of the two losers would throw three quarters on the table, and each of the three winners would pick up two quarters.

Flip again to start the next game.

You have to try it to see how much fun it is. There's drama each game to see whose team you're on or whether--dread--it's you against everybody and you're risking several quarters.

You don't feel against everybody else like in a ring game because everybody's your teammate every couple games. Good players are frequently paired with weak players, so while they will likely slowly pull ahead, they don't dominate like in a ring game.

I like pea pool and cribbage. They're easy games to learn for the beginner and everyone has a chance to win.

There's a goofy game I learned a few months ago. Other folks may know it by other names, but these guys called it "Ker-DINK". It's great for like three to five people.

You get a bowl, like about the size of a cereal/salad bowl, preferably porcelain but sturdy. Figure up the rotation of the crowd of players, you stick to that rotation as long as you're playing. Everyone chips in a buck (or whatever) into the bowl.

Rack the balls normally (all fifteen). First player up breaks. Then you take that bowl and stick it dead center in the table, moving any interferring balls away from the bowl.

At this point, the player who broke now shoots one shot. He has to make a ball (no slop). If he does, he's good. If he misses his shot, he throws a quarter (or whatever) into the bowl. If during his shot, any ball strikes that bowl - i.e. makes a "ker-dink!" sound, hence the name of the game - he tosses a quarter in the bowl. If he misses AND strikes the bowl, that's a quarter for each.

You also keep a sheet of paper with the player's names in rotational order. If someone misses or hits the bowl, a mark is made next to his name - one foul per shot, not two if you miss and ker-dink in the same shot. Based on the number of players, each player has a certain number of fouls they are allowed 'til they're out of the game. With three or four players, five fouls is a good number.

You play this in rotation 'til someone makes the last ball on the table - the balls are racked again, the bowl removed, and that same player breaks. The bowl is replaced (again, moving any necessary balls), and the next player steps up and takes his shot. Rinse, repeat.

The game continues until there is one player left - i.e. the rest have all fouled out - whereupon that player collects the cash in the bowl.

well explain em........

Pea Pool is pretty simple; everyone draws a number, from 1-15; keeps the number private; game is shot in rotation with a 15 ball rack; your number is your ball on the table; if you make your ball you win, if someone else makes your ball you're out. It's used to be a very popular game. I have some antique leather bottles and wooden pills. Great game and everyone can play.

Cribbage is a little more difficult but just as fun. You have to make balls that equal 15 to score 1 point. 14 and 1, 13 and 2, the 15 etc. Play to a pre-determined number of points and just keep re-racking until someone reaches the target. Makes for a good social game. Since you only have to make two balls to get a point, the slower speed players don't tend to get discouraged since they're able to score.

Hope this helps.

drawing blanks:

using counters or cards numbered 1-15

one player, one turn, one draw luck.

gain a point by pocketing the object ball of corresponding number.
lose a point for a scratch.
no points lost for hitting object and hitting a rail.

haven't played this since grade school. Haven't really tried it with a crowd over 16.

my two favorites...

for three people.. you can play cut-throat...
its wear each person gets 5 balls.. 1 to 5, 6 to 10 , 11 to 15 , each person has a turn at the table.. the object is to the opponents balls.. but then you can also shoot your own.. for position or what not.. lets say there are 4 balls left on the table and the only shot you have is your own last ball.. so you shoot it in order to get on the last balls to win, but after you make your own ball you miss , therefore you loose because you cut your own throat..

also.. my real personal favorite is..

MOUTAIN-OF-MONEY!

the gist is of this game.. you spot the cue ball on the rear spot and the object ball on the headstring, then you get all your players.. say 5 of ya's.. you place each person takes 1 dollar.. now the object is to take each of those 5 dollars (or more if more people) and cover the ball on the spot so nobody can see it, then each person takes a turn trying to make a spot shot.. and then once nobody made it, each person throws in another 1, which would now be 10 bux.. and then each person gets another turn, you keep throwing more and more money on the ball every round and it really makes it difficult to judge..

one time, i played with 15 people.. i ended up winning it at 137$. of course after awhile.. some people dropped out and stuff.. but it built up that high.. had about 20 invested in it myself.. not bad you might say..

I really ment to play "38" as the muliplayer game.

It was a long night of game play, my apology for mispeaching.

I used to play a game we called Bastard Billiards.

It's played with the 1, 2, & 3 ball plus the Cue.
The 1 is placed on the Foot Spot.
The 2 in the Center
The 3 on the Head Spot.

There must be a carom on every shot to continue shooting.
A carom is worth 1 point.
If the shooter pockets a ball along with making the carom shooter gets the ball value plus 1 for the carom.
Pocketed balls are immediately spotted to their designated spot whenever pocketed then the shooter continues with their run.

The name Bastard Billiards came from the rule that if during a run the shooter scratches, they loose all the points in that run.

This is the only game where silly rules make the game fun. ie If the shooter goes over the game winning points they go back to Zero.

A 50 point game is good for 2. 25 points are easy and many can play.
15 point game can be like playing 3 ball.

By the way:
When I used to play 9 ball this game would put me in dead stroke. It makes you concentrate more on speed and cueball control rather than pocketing balls.
