What are the BCAPL National Events entry numbers this year compared to last year?

I think these are reasons numbers 1 and 2 for the decline. While the Rio is definitely nicer by a long shot, it simply doesn't matter for those that can't afford it, which I think there are quite a few, and even many of the players that can afford it still don't go because it simply is no longer worth the price to them.

Where would you hold it that would be less expensive? While it is more expensive than past events at the Riviera, it is less expensive than any other league's events that are currently run. Yes, Las Vegas has become more expensive. But our event is still a good value for today's prices in Las Vegas.

The actual cost of staying at the hotel is not the issue in the reason why participation is down or being thwarted.

Something funny I caught myself doing, I read the Women's events and the "Mixed" events and I kept trying to find out where the "Men's" events were for a few seconds till I realized that "Mixed" was both Men and Women. My brain was just telling me "if they have Women only events, that means that the Men are playing in their own events also". Seems the numbers are well down, wonder if it's people leaving pool or going to other leagues or the league lessening how many teams and players win trips. Seeing so few kids in the event is pretty sad also, 11 from across the country?

Shame to continually see team counts dwindle every year...... lots of people I have spoke with would like to get away from the Rio and not play in the middle of summer..(prime family vacation time)..

This is exactly why 100+ eastern Canadians haven't gone to the BCA since they moved it away from the Riviera . Too hot in July there ... and too nice up here to leave.

If they moved it out of the RIO and back to May or even early June, then they'd see a big increase in numbers.

To me it doesn't matter what time of year it's held...except during December. I work for the US Postal Service and getting time off in December requires a note from the Funeral home.
My kids are grown so no big deal about summer vacation. As for the heat in Vegas during the summer? It seems to be a constant 72 in the casino or pool rooms. That's where I'm at 90% of the time.

Would participation go up in a different month? who knows?
Would participation go up if it was at a different venue? who knows?

Bottom line is, if you want to compete, you will go wherever the tournament is held, PERIOD!
