What are the best hitting cues you ever tried out, from fairly unknown cuemakers?

Have you ever been handed a cue to try out (maybe from a friend, or league team mate), and after hitting a few balls with it, you said something like "wow, this cue hits amazing, who made it?", and then when the owner of the cue told you the name of the cue maker, you were like "I never heard of him", or something like that?

This may have happened to you many times in the past, and later on, you found out that the cue maker is actually well known in the world of pool cue fans and players.

I am curious about the cue makers like this (who made a cue that you tried out, and really loved after only the 1st couple of shots), who are actually not very well known, and only at this time, maybe only known in their local area.

Thanks for posting any names of cue makers that come to mind (that made a cue that you were really impressed with, not by the way it looked, but by the way you thought it played / hit, from a cue maker who you had never heard of, and that most players that are not from the cue makers area may not have heard of) , and maybe where they are from, and if you know if they are still building cues or not.

I understand that this is probably a really silly post, because I understand how fast the word can get out about how great of a playing cue that any certain cue maker can make, but maybe there are some new up and coming cue makers out there, who have not been building cues that long, and have not sold too many cues yet (enough to where the word about the great playability of their cues would really spread, like wild fire in the pool community).

For example, I wonder how long it took Diveney cues to become very well known? I am thinking maybe not until he attended events like the Super Billiards Expo, where a lot of pool fans from all over the world attend, and get a chance to try out new cues from up and coming cue makers while they are there.

Eclat, great cues. Plays identical to a Diviney or Pechauer non-steel joint. Eclats are the absolute best value going right now. Within 3 years they are bound to sky-rocket in value. (this,of course,is my opinion) !!!

Ditto Cezar,we must have the same source of information. The pool grapevine has never been so far-reaching,informative,and accurate as it is today !!!

Chris Whitaker. But you may have heard of him as he's not far from you down in southern Illinois.

I had two that were built by Dave Ward.
One was made on a Titelist conversion theme. The other was finished from a John Davis full-splice blank.
They both played very well, and both looked fantastic.

Allen Green.................

down in Houston. Classic, old-school looking cues at really good prices.

Oh yeah, I believe his cues probably do hit really nice. He learned cue making from Mike Durbin (who makes really great hitting cues, in my opinion). I had one of the very 1st sneaky pete cues that Durbin ever made when I was a kid (in the mid 90's). I loved that cue so much, and had it for years.

Unfortunately, you've put yourself into a "Cry Wolf" category, so even your better questions will be filled with silly response. I think this is one of your better questions, but I have to wonder what you'll do with this information. Additionally, many readers will see it's a post from you, so they'll skip the real responses to your good question by not opening the thread or by reading the silly (funny) responses. That's too bad.

Before they got popular from the Internet, I'd say:

Bryan Mordt
Murray Tucker

In San Diego, Dave Whitsell has quite a good reputation for his solid cues.

Good luck in whatever you're trying to do. If I were you, I'd buy a RAT Cue (Ryan Theewen - Muellers.com) and never look back.

Omen

Before Omen got big a friend had one and it hit really nice. His sneaky petes play fantastic. I have been tempted to buy another just to play around with.

Doug patrick

I have like 4 of doug Patrick's cues. With different joints, materials, lengths. Etc. And they all hit/feel/look amazing. His shop is out of shooters pool hall in Olathe. Very reasonable prices. And the customer service dont get any better either.

cue I'm playing with

Though in your constant searching for a magic cue, I think you should try a blackboar.
